Anybody else sick of Brett Favre?

Now that I have St. Brett as my av, I should probably come up with a way to make him into a flip-flopping av.
Shouldn't one of those images be dressed in purple........
That would be cooler.

Don't get any ideas, JKTim, or I'll make trouble for you in MA.
You do realize that each night before Batman goes to bed, he checks his closet for JKTim. Such is the fear he evokes in all creatures.
I've had drinks with JKTim. Batman may check his closet to make sure JKTim isn't hiding in it, but every night JKTim checks his own closet for Chuck Norris cliche's hiding in it.

The long national nightmare is now over; Brett Favre is a Jet and Chris Mortensen can go back to sleep now.

And New York was insane enough to give up a fourth-round pick -- that could become a second-rounder -- for a player who was going to be released next week, probably.

Unless I've missed a whole lot of off-season dealings that beefed up the team, he's gonna get absolutely KILLED in New York.

So much for going out on a high-note.

Hell, with the way Favre just rambles on and says anything on his mind during interviews, I can't wait for Brett Favre vs. the New York media.

Edit: I bet ESPN is freaking the fuck out right now. There's only one Jets game on Monday Night Football this year, and the only other Jets primetime game is a Thursday night NFL network game. I guarantee you that George Bodenheimer is on the phone right this minute to the league office, offering virgin sacrifices for flex scheduling.

Edit: Correction, NFL Network has now said that if Favre is traded to the Vikings, the Packers get the Jets' next three 1st-round picks

I live in Wisconsin, not in Green Bay but in that general area of the state. But I grew up near Milwaukee. Were baseball and the Brewers are a much bigger deal. I am not much of a football fan at all. But living up here I see its practicality a Religion! I am getting so sick of this story. Everyone I work with have been acting like children whose parents are going through a divorce. I have to pretend like I care.

But everything I'd heard said there was no way Green Bay would simply release Favre, because of the likelihood he'd sign with the Vikings.

Heh. That's funny. Not sure if you're joking or not, but Favre did indeed get traded to the Jets. It's on every....single....local channel here. And all over the web.

Favre can just go away now. Please.

No, it's not a joke. That is worked into the deal, that if Favre is traded to the VIkings, the Jets give up those 3 1st round picks.

I'm interested in where Chad Pennington will go now. Word is he's going to be released today, with the news of Favre's signing. Pennington being a graduate of my Dad & brother's alma mater (Marshall U), I've tended to follwo him a bit. Not a strogn arm at all, and he's had some injuries... but he's one of those good guys I like to root for. Busts his butt every day. Maybe his future is as a offensive coordinator. The guys is such a smart, quick study that I'm betting he can learn and/or craft a great gameplan.

I am so pleased for him. He can now take his soap opera and drama to NYC, home of The View. I think he'll fit right in.

Fucking traitor.

Is Reggie White a traitor in Philly for coming to Green Bay? Do 49ers fans call Joe Montana a traitor? Do Brewers fans call Paul Molitor a traitor?

It was a clash between Brett Favre's ego and Mike Thompson's unchecked ego, and Favre lost. The Packers didn't want him back and also didn't want him to play elsewhere, which is why you had Mark Murphy speaking on behalf of what was in Favre's heart regarding retirement.

You'd have to ask Eagles' fans.

My brother-in-law is a die-hard Niner's fan, and he most certainly does.

He was a fucking traitor too.

Favre's ego wasn't unchecked?

I won't deny that both parties made several missteps, many of which don't appear known to the public. What was the whole kerfuffle over Randy Moss, anyway?

Favre's a traitor. I hope that he rides the pine at Giants Stadium.

So if I want to keep playing ball but the team I've been with no longer wants me, the only option is to retire? Yeah, that's some common sense thinking there.

If he wanted to keep playing ball, he shouldn't have retired in the first place. If he didn't want to play ball for the Packers, he should have asked to be traded. The Packers were pretty fed up of his am I/aren't I retirement games, and I can't blame them for not wanting him around.

No matter how you slice it, he fucked up, and he's a traitor. Rot in hell, Favre, I mean NYC (little difference).

Favre (whose agent, Bus Cook, also represents Moss) badly wanted the Packers to sign Moss. Ted Thompson, not wanting to annihilate the team's salary cap after finally getting the team's finances under control after Mike Sherman's reign of terror, decided that an erratic, moody receiver on the wrong side of 30 wasn't worth breaking the bank.

Favre then said that this was a reason that he "couldn't trust" the team.

If I understand the rules correctly when you retire (and stay out a year) it makes you a free agent, and then you can go anyplace you want. I guess he didn't want to sit out a year.

You are incorrect; a team controls a player's rights, retired or not, for as long as the player's contract is active.

To answer the question, yes I am sick of hearing about Favre this and Favre that. You'd think with the coverage this is getting he's the second coming or something.
