My steelbook arrives at 10 AM! PM! Who-hoo! Gonna watch it this weekend with my besties. LDS is hands-down our favorite of the three new-era series released thus far, and is becoming one of my personal all-time favorites, full stop. Psyched that the show is already renewed for two more seasons—the show’s talented cast and crew totally earned and deserved it.

ETA: ah poop, in my excitement while reading the Amazon notice I read 10 AM when it's really 10 PM. Still excited though... whoo-hoo!

That depends on what device you’re watching. If you have something like Apple TV or an Android TV you will actually get 4K HDR with shows like Discovery and Picard. However, if you watch the service on say a Vizio TV then it’s 720p all across. I really hope Paramount/CBS steps up their game and has every device stream 1080p with 4K HDR for the shows available on that.

I learned this when I bought a Vizio TV last year and noticed that CBS programming on their app for that device never went above 720p. It was really annoying, but thankfully I had an Apple TV device on hand to overcome that issue.

Just got mine. Blu-ray discs are more resilient with the anti-scratch coating and I can only assume are made with stronger materials due to the smaller pits the blue laser reads from. Dual-layer discs are still glued, but the technology of glue will not have changed much and these should still last several decades...

    Are the blu-rays uncensored?

The first episode, "Second Contact", was bleeped.

No, I believe that's part of the joke.

No. Too many Trekkies live in their parent’s basements. They have to watch with them.

The bleeping was intentional. It's part of the comedy, it wasn't mandated censorship.

Ah, too bad. That would have been a selling point for me.

I dunno, first time I saw South Park uncut, it was just weird. Lost some of the charm.

Deliberate bleeping was never really that funny to me. It’s like another form of canned laughter. Luckily, it doesn’t really detract from all the good the show has.

At first I thought it was some kind of censoring too, possibly to lower the age ratings in an attempt to make it more marketable/suitable for kids.

I doubt it would occur to most casual viewers that the bleeping was intentional comedy. I only found out about it myself on this very forum (or possibly Trekmovie).

I have a hard time imagining anyone wouldn't immediately understand them as intentional comedy. If it weren't for this forum I don't think the thought that they aren't intentional would ever have crossed my mind, honestly.

Yeah, intentional beeping has been a thing in comedy for a long time. Pretty much something I've been aware for over 20 years now.

I remember the first time I ever saw intentional bleeping was on Boy Meets World and it was very jarring because the show never does that at any other point.

Got my set delivered into the UK a couple of weeks ago and the Steelbook is a thing of beauty. Had a quick flick through it and like the unfinished animatics as deleted scenes.

Only downside is CBS seemed to have stopped putting any of the Trek promos on these discs. They did a stellar job on Disco S1 with trailers and episode promos but haven't included those on and other shows or subsequent seasons.

UK thing? I could've sworn I skipped some promos on my copy.
