Any "poor" superheroes

After 18, not -- right? I know nothing about wards.
You don't have too, just how a trust fund works.

I believe you can set up a trust fund where the recipient can recieve the fund right away or set it where it can only be accessed after a certain age.
You can do just about any (lawful) thing with a trust fund you want, except combining the roles of settlor, trustee and beneficiary into one person.

In some states they still run afoul of the rule against perpetuities, which is arcane and boring, although it is also important and really should never have been statutorily abolished anywhere.

Although these days he probably has complete access to the Wayne fortune.

I seriously wonder what estate law is like in the DCU. What the hell happened to Bruce Wayne's estate when he stopped being dead? I can see Dick just handing it back to him... less so the 45% the federal government (and who knows what Gotham State) took from his multibillion dollar personal fortune. Granted, I reckon Bruce probably didn't mention the hundreds of millions of dollars worth of equipment he'd stolen from Wayne Enterprises in the will and Dick probably didn't bother disclosing it either., but Dick probably had to sell everything else he owned to keep the house.

Seriously, I bet the only asset in Batman, Inc., is a giant manorhouse with three mortgages on it. (Soon to be lost, no doubt, since I hear "fighting the Joker" is not a very profitable industry.)

They played it smart this time and never reported Bruce's death. They had Tommy Elliot impersonate Wayne during the "death." So unless I missed some issue where it was addressed, the general public never knew he died.

Ah. Good call on that.

How did they explain Clark Kent sitting in a coffin for a while?

Clark was trapped in an underground fallout shelter when Superman and Doomsday tore up the city. He was rescued shortly after Superman reappeared. The Daily Planet had a front-page story showing Clark being dug out of the shelter by "Superman" (actually Matrix-Supergirl posing as Superman to avoid suspicion).

Captain Marvel and Mary Marvel, or Billy and Mary Batson. Orphans, passed from one horrible foster home to another, seperated, Billy ends up providing for himself on the streets, and then meets a Wizard.

SHAZAM! Poor and sad.

Cool. That's actually pretty plausible.

Doesn't he represent poor and indigent defendants? (actually, reading this thread, he's apparently homeless - bizarre).

I think that's an effect of Shadowland, which may or may not (I didn't read it) involve Matt Murdock being possessed by Satan. Then again, they recapitulate Born Again enough that I'm sure DD's been homeless tons of times.

Correct scenario, but Supergirl impersonated Clark, not the big red S.

^^ I wonder if his new status (which begins next month) will result in him earning a paycheck.
Can this board please get the old spoiler coding back? While widely reported during the last 2 weeks, I didn't want to spoil Spidey's new gig for those who may not have caught the news.

Wouln't Nightwing/Dick still be broke, though? So he still hypothetically has some money from Bruce, but how much, and how long can it last considering he has his own gadgets, crime fighting costs, and repairs & replacements from battle? That's got to be pretty costly.

He has no real world job skills, and as far as I know he's never held a job. What kind of job could he get? Was the split between him and Bruce bitter enough to have not helped Dick?

He actually worked as a cop for the Bludhaven Police Department for awhile, and I don't think Bruce has ever cut off him from the Wayne funds. He's not so petty as to deprive Nightwing of the resources he needs to fight crime.

(Plus, of course, there's always the Teen Titans. Who subsidizes them?)
