Any plans for OT/Post-ROTJ Star Wars series

I thought Courtship was a pretty good book. It actually had a decent Dark Sider enemy, which is a rarity in the Bantam Era. I also thought it was well written. And I loved the planet of the Rancors. And the way that Han kidnapped Leia because she fell in love with someone else :D I also liked the way there were two enemies, the dark side witches and the Imperial warlord and how they interacted.

And I thought Dark Empire (except the Empire's End anti-finale) was an excellent series. Sure it renders the ending of ROTJ moot, but isn't it just a tad silly that the supreme Sith Chosen One could be defeated by being tossed down a shaft?

Sun Crusher didn't bother me, though it was a bit comical how many Imperial Super Weapons were flying around in that book!

You can't make a series out of the Post-ROTJ EU though, because it's just too damn inconsistent. Too many authors with conflicting styles and ideas. Not to mention there wasn't really any kind of singular storyline in the Bantam Era, it was just a long run of disconnected standalones.

I don't think we'll ever see any series post-OT, at least not starring the Big Three. Lucas has said on numerous occasions that, as far as he's concerned, the story of Star Wars ends with Return of the Jedi.

Except for all those times he said otherwise. :p

Remember the official Star Wars website during the late '90s, when it had tabs for Episodes VII, VIII and IX? Yeah.

Really? where?

At the time I first read it Courtship was okay. But after Allston's extended prequel to it (in the form of the Wraith Squadron books) turned out infinitely better than the story they were supposedly leading up to, it lost something in comparison.

Meh. Most of the complaints about the EU could be directed at those comics. You want ridiculous superweapons, look no further than the galaxy gun. Ironically enough, the mental image I got from the JAT's summarization of those events was far more compelling than the actual stories. And don't get me started on the Force allowing interplanetary teleportation....

There wasn't a central storyline, no, but they certainly weren't standalone in the sense that usually means. Characters and events carried over from one to another well enough.

The only reason Lucas made the Anakin trilogy is because he was low on money.

As others have said, he was in fact a very wealthy man at the time. So wealthy that he funded the PT with his own money to avoid studio interference.

If he just needed money, he could have easily sold the rights to make more Star Wars movies for a big huge check and then retired to the Caribbean island of his choosing.

I wouldn't mind seeing Dark Empire, Crimson Empire (book one), or the NJO, or the Legacy comic with a whole new Skywalker as lead.

Also, going backwards, would like to see the KOTOR games made into movies and the Darth Bane duology.

Oh yeah! I remember when the Bearded One referred to those movies as Clone Wars I, Clone Wars II and Clone Wars III... Times change, huh?

The fact that lucas has not made anything (cartoon or otherwise) set after ROTJ indicated he wants it left open for any future productions. If he did indeed make them I doubt very highly he would use any of the EU books, as good as they may be.

I'll give you the clones. And that Courtship was a pretty weak book. But what's wrong with the Sun Crusher? I mean, the Jedi Academy trilogy has its issues, but I never thought of that as one of them.

Oh, and if nothing else, Courtship introduced the Hapes Consortium and initiated the series of events that eventually gave us Tenel Ka, so I can't hate it too much.

The Sun Crusher was just ridiculous in concept (destroying a star is very different from destroying a planet) and it was lame attempt to top the Death Star. Why do we need to top the Death Star? I actually liked the Death Star Prototype, though and quite a few elements of the Jedi Academy Trilogy.

Though, in light of the Prequel Trilogy, I think Luke should have trained Leia, and then taken someone as a padawan, et cetra. The whole Academy seems like they didn't really know how Jedi should be trained, but now that we do know (and it's not like all the knowledge of the Jedi has been wiped out) I think Luke should train one person at a time, especially since that is closer to how he was trained.

Most of the Masters do take apprentices again at this point. (The term "padawan" has been bandied about a bit, but "apprentice" is used as often.) Of course, that started to change after Luke found a few holocrons and learned more about the old Jedi. For a while there he was pretty much flying blind.

And besides, when you're the last one I don't see any harm in jump-starting the Jedi repopulation by holding a few group sessions.

These days, aside from Ben, Luke doesn't have an apprentice of his own because he's too busy being the Grandmaster of the Jedi order.

It is no more ridiculous then Dr Soran's missiles in Generations in terms of destroying a star. The thing I didn't like about the Sun Crusher was its quantum armour or whatever, it got a bit too uber with that little detail, would have preferred that it was a tough ship and not nigh-on-invincible.

The New Jedi Order is much more like the pre-Empire order. You have group classes for the youngsters and then they get weeded out to Masters. Luke wouldn't know how to train new Jedi, he go very little formal training himself. He thought it best to train a number of students at once, all older then what would be normal for prequal Jedi but he was doing his best to get the Jedi Order back as quickly as possible as it seems the republic cannot survive without the Jedi Order.

Glad he didn't take Leia under his wing to train her into a Jedi. I enjoyed it when she was a senator and whatnot. Plus it made a nice duo, Luke recreates the Jedi Order, Leia recreates the Republic.

While Han sits back and cracks jokes, and Chewie babysits the Solo kids! :techman:

NEED pic of this please

I'd be mildly interested in a Shadows of the Empire CG movie. Not being a series, they could put more effort into the animation, making it comparable to The Incredibles. I didn't see The Clones Wars, but I might see that.

Well guys, where I got that was my friend stated that he had read that in an interview that lucas was low on money so he made the films.

Ah well. Live and learn.

The man gets a check everytime someone buys a stormtrooper, I don't think he's running low on cash. Especially since he made for the prequels out of his own pocket.
