Any of you Mac users updated to Catalina?

The reason I ask is because I've heard reports of the Catalina update deleting the user's entire music library. Have any of you reading this (who use Macs) updated to Catalina yet, and if so, did this happen to you?

And if it did, how did you fix it?

I'm holding off. I have a comprehensive backup strategy, so I'm not worried about data loss, but between the reports of general bugginess and the fact that there are some 32-bit apps I'm not ready to say goodbye to yet (still gotta play Bioshock Infinite while I can, and I want at least one more round with Homeworld without dual-booting into Windows), I don't think the features I'm interested in (the iTunes split potentially fixing some small bugs that have been vexing me, Apple Arcade) outweigh my concerns. I'll probably put it off until next year. Heck, if it doesn't get more stable, I might just hold out for 10.16.

I upgraded and it was a disaster, but that was mostly my fault. Without realizing it, I just did the update. Forgetting the mandatory migration to 64 bit. You can run a check on your system to see which things will be broken, and yes you will have a lot. If I had done this, I would have never updated. I lost several key applications, so now I’m doing work across two different Macs and a PC laptop where before I just used my iMac. Again, this is my fault. I’m not going back because to go back you have to wipe the drive and do a fresh install of 10.14. I don’t have the time or patience to do this.

With that said, I really like Catalina.

I don't have very many legacy 32-bit apps. So I'm not worried about that.

@Tom Hendricks, what happened to your music library when you updated? Were all of your songs (if you have any) still where they should be? THAT is the main reason I'm holding out.

No problems so far. A few legacy 32-bit apps no longer work but that's all.

Well, I bit the bullet and updated to Catalina.

Thank God, all my music is there. Although I kinda wish the iTunes Store was a separate app (like it is on iOS devices)...right now, you access the store via the iMusic or TV apps. But that's just a minor thing.

In general, though, I'm glad iTunes went the way of the dodo. It was just way too fucking bloated. And I definitely like the fact that Home Sharing has been moved to the Finder - that way, the Music and TV apps don't have to be running for Home Sharing to work. With iTunes, it always had to be running.

Side note: Apple has got to get a new desktop picture of Santa Catalina Island. The one they've got now makes it look like a giant walrus is staring at you.

edit: THE MUSIC APP ONCE AGAIN HAS THE COLUMN BROWSER! PRAISE BE!
