Any Feedback on BIG BANG from RTD or DT?

Is there anywhere where they have commented on THE BIG BANG or PANDORICA OPENS since it has aired?

Well, since RTD is writing an SJA story for 11, he would watch to get the feel of the way MS is playing 11.

I have no doubt Tennant would have seen it as he is a big Who fan and mentioned how much he was looking forward to being the audience again.

I doubt that Tennant or Davies watch the show regularly.
:wtf:

What makes you think that? They're both HUGE fans of the show and both have sung the praises of Steven Moffat many times. I would be surprised if they didn't watch the new series.

I would be interested in seeing what they thought of the new series but I'm not surprised they haven't said anything.

Difficult position to be in; if they don't like it people will think its sour grapes, if they do people will just think they're saying that!

Best to keep quiet really. I'd be surprised if neither of them watched it, they're both Doctor Who fans after all!

Now Eccleston probably doesn't... ;)

I heard a joke that RTD must have felt insecure in his manhood after watching a finale as epic as The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang.

Now Eccleston probably doesn't... ;)

On a somewhat serious note, I remember the S1 DVD set had an interview with Eccleston where he said the only times he watched Classic Who was to watch a Dalek episode or a regeneration episode. I've always wondered if he's continued to watch Tennant's Dalek episodes as well as Smith's, or if he watched The End of Time?

I would LOVE to hear what Eccleston thought of the actors who followed him, or his impression of the show after he left. But somehow I doubt we'll ever know.

Hell, I don't think I've heard him even mention Tennant's name in an interview.

Wouldn't surprise me if RTD and DT kept watching (work permitting). There was certainly no indication that they years on the job burned them out on DW. And as someone said above, they both started out as big DW nerds. :)

Unfortunately as someone also said, they probably avoid saying anything negative publically, so as not to sound catty. So all we'd probably get is an "I think the new series is amazing!" soundbyte.

Yeah, I'm thinking he's probably put that entire year behind him. Just another actign gig.

I agree, he probably blocked out that entire year. In fact, if you asked him today whether he enjoyed playing The Doctor, then he'd probably just reply, "Did I enjoy play the Doctor? Doctor...who?"

:guffaw::guffaw: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I'LL BE HERE ALL WEEK!!!! :guffaw::guffaw:

There was an interview I read from maybe a month where RTD said he was delighted with how series five was progressing and that he'd watch "Doctor Who" with Moffat as the show runner forever or something like that. He's not stated anything but positive things. I'm sure Russell and David watch it when they can. As has been stated David is a self professed Doctor Who nerd so I think he'd watch it when he could or Tivio's it.

I can't see any reason why they'd complain, personally. A few weeks back I might have thought RTD might have been a bit chuffed that the "crack" made his work on Stolen Earth/Journey's End and Next Doctor disappear, but then everything got put back (as indicated by the return of Amy's parents who had also been made to vanish by the crack) so his legacy continues.

Also, RTD on a professional level needs to keep up with DW because he's still doing Torchwood and Sarah Jane -- including writing that upcoming Eleventh Doctor episode for SJA -- so he needs to see the shows in order to get the right feel for the character and also, presumably, write something that doesn't violate any arcs. (For example, as far as we've heard only Matt appears in the SJA story. So RTD presumably needs to insert a line explaining the absence of Amy and Rory -- but he'd have need to see up to Big Bang in order to know whether Amy or Rory were still involved. Or, for that matter, whether he needed to have the Doctor wearing a fez!

^ True enough. I'm sure he might have a few nit-picks, but I don't see him outright hating anything about the current series. Would be great to hear if he did though.

Ah well. Maybe in 20 years when he puts out 'A Writers Tale. Vol. 5'. :)

Did Tennant ever watch his own eps though? A dye-in-the-wool fan he might be but many actors don't actally like to watch themselves on the screen.

He's watched at least the episodes he did episode commentaries for. Obviously. :)

Outside of that, I don't really know. Tennant is a fan, through and through, so I'd imagine that even if he didn't rewatch his own episodes if he didn't have to, he's watched Smith's episodes. And in turning down the role for the fifth season, Tennant did say that he was interested in watching it.
