Any Comic Book Fans Here That Are Annoyed By Comic Movie Only Fans?

Re: Any Comic Book Fans Here That Are Annoyed By Comic Movie Only Fans

I was the geeky kid who liked comics, and it's caused me to hide my enjoyment of them even into my adult life. Even so, I don't begrudge anyone their entertainment of something. In some ways it's encouraging that the bullies of the past are now getting why their victim enjoyed superheroes. If they, then, think back and realize they were wrong for bullying fans of comics, then that's what I call "growth." They can't go back and fix what they did, but maybe they can learn that picking on someone for their interests, especially when they come to enjoy said interest, is wrong.

Especially since the inherent message in superhero comics comes down to, "If you have power over someone or something you can either use it to help others (and thus be a hero) or to hurt others (and thus be a villain)."

I vaguely recall seeing a review for the first X-Men film online that began with a line something like, "We used to make fun of my friend's brother...."

You have a point. I have taken my lumps here now and some of what I said was a bit tongue and cheek which a lot here didn't get until I started joking a bit more. But yeah I think you are pretty much spot on in your analysis. I do need to lighten up a bit.:)

Its the adults who picked on others back when they were in younger (i.e. late teens early 20s) that read comic books back in the day and are now seeing the movies because its the cool thing to do now. Those are the annoying ones.
Why be annoyed? Think of it as a multi-year argument over what is best in life and culture - and WE WON. :techman: Comics, computers, RPGs, etc - they can play at being knowledgeable with their friends, but they *know* who the elder grognards are, and so do we. :D
This conversation is starting to give me flashbacks to when Cracked did an article on the 'fake fangirls' comments that tend to wander around the Internet.
Good grief I'm getting old. I know exactly which article you're talking about - I *read* it - and yet the phrase "Cracked did an article" immediately had my mind searching dead tree copies of Cracked I read in my teens and 20s.

*struggling*

Must not...say... 'Cracked was a magazine?'...joke.

;)
