Antares Class

Awesome :) :techman:

Nah, those boxes were just real quickies I whipped up for that pic.

In other news, I've been working on the robot version on and off. I think I have the modeling done. Now I'm just wrestling with the textures as usual. :)

I was in the mood again today, so I finished up the UV mapping and textures. The next step will be to wrestle everything into submission for Poser/Daz.

Rendered in Carrara 5.

You are very kind! I would test it this evening, but Doctor Who debuts on BBCAmerica in just two hours and I gotta' catch that!

Sincerely,

Bill

Oh, a quick update for Rich.

The "beta" seems fine. I installed the files within the proper Poser folders and "loaded" the item without error. It did not try to search for any missing or misnamed textures. (I experience that a lot with free content). As far as I can tell, all ploygons face forward, so I didn't get any weird black patches. The materials intended to glow had their ambience levels already set. the only thing I "tweaked" was the "angle cut-off". it loaded at 50 degrees, and I dialed it down to the "industry standard" 32 degrees. That rid a few faces of some ever so slight shading "effects". (But that's more of a personal preference than a "flaw" in your commendible efforts.)

As far as Poser 7 is concerned, I'd say it's ready for general release.

Sincerely,

Bill

I had already dialed it back from 80 to 50 but didn't try it any lower. I'll have to remember that 32 is the "standard". :)

Thank you very much.

Maybe "industry standard" is too controlling a phrase. But I have read the number 32 in a couple of documents and it seems to work well for a lot of "hardware" based meshes. Obviously, with "organics", one usually wants that number to be higher to avoid sharp polygon seams upon "skin".

Sincerely,

Bill
