Very similar type of stories. People trapped in a different realm which moves at a different time with a villain who needs something from the heroes to get out. Even the Bill Murray character is similar to Zeus.

The film grossed just $8.2 million on its second Friday — a colossal 82% drop from its $46.4 million opening day.

I'm not surprised. Some people will be. Marvel was asking for a kick in the balls and they got it. They can't keep pumping out these kinds of movies and expect audiences to accept it.

It is interesting that Ant Man 3 is considered a failure despite still being #5 for In-Year releases (US DOmestic) at $214,504,909

Feige needed Michael Peña as Luis in this movie in order to consider it a potential summer blockbuster? Seriously? I didn't even miss him, let alone Dave or Kurt. This just doesn't make any sense to me.

Many fans love him...and even if it was some kind of YouTube teaser or summary of the first 2 movies, it would have easily boosted the movie buzz.

They also could have easily had a Luis scene at the beginning, then he leaves the room to get a snack, and is there to help them get back to the "normal" universe.

They should have had Luis be the one narrating the Ant-Man Audiobook.

Most definitely...or at least the "Foreward".

Oh, as i was checking some numbers to see why they would release Flash as opposed to Batgirl...

the 10th film of the top 10, at least for 2019-2016, averaged around $220... so that MIGHT be how Ant Man ends up.Definitely gonna be 6 after Mission Impossible comes out, and there should be maybe 3 more mega movies by the end of the year?

There's failure and then there's Marvel failure. It's made less than any of the Marvel movies released last year. Yes, this year is not looking good for anyone not named Tom Cruise but Thor finished in 8th last year with $343,256,830. Antman was sold as the movie to kick off phase 5, to blow the lid off the multiverse saga, to introduce the big bad Kang. A lot was riding on it. Disney expected better.

That and it also lost money. 200m production budget, 100m+ in marketing. It needed to hit 600m at least, and based on the MCU's box office history there was absolutely no reason why it shouldn't have been able to get there. Yet in the end it fell short by well over 100m.
