I think the season will end with them finding Spock, who returns to the Enterprise with Pike, and their adventures are chronicled in a new Pike/Enterprise series.
Tilly is 'likeable' in the same way Neelix was meant to be. She was totally cringe and awkward in this trailer, and in the series itself. Lorca is dead. Staments has potential, mainly because the actor actually has good presence and good witty comedic delivery.
I can see Staments being for this series the equivalent of what The Doctor was to Voyager.
Saru isn't ever being a series-lead Captain. General audiences would lose interest. He's too dull as a commanding officer and while Doug does the best he can, the makeup still hinders the performance.
Yep. Michael Burnham literally drags down the trailer, with another one of her droning monologues that awkwardly doesn't fit the tone that they are trying to sell.
Nah. I'm honestly kind of wanting this show to go that route just to see how much more terrible it can get. S1 was laughably bad, but the Pike/Enterprise stuff has certainly been a curve ball to keep me interested in this series. The gimmick worked.
If Fuller and his two producers were still on board, they probably would have made Burnham Captain. Burnham is their brainchild.
If Kurtzman really wants to push a new tone of STD, Burnham will take a backseat.
That being said, I can already see James T. Kirk coming onto this series by Season 3, in order to keep the CBS subscriptions afloat. Either as Captain, or Burnham's first officer that she mentors and introduces to Spock.
The trailer had some good and some bad for me. I wasn’t keen on the impression that Magic Michael alone is able to see this season’s mystery aliens, the sneeze gag was pretty horrid and Pike’s “hit it” line was just trying too hard to be cool for me.
That said, I love the premise of the mysterious special anomalies, that at least part of this season is going to be a search for Spock and hopefully that’s the first of many lines for Detmer this season. The set updates look great too, someone has definitely found the light switch!

Er, no.
So one of them had what I would consider a decent uniform. I mean I disliked the original JJ uniforms (especially after seeing how much better it can be done in beyond) but that new one makes the 09 uniform look good. Heck I almost want to say that new one makes the disco uniforms look good. Is that how they're going to make us stop complaining about the disco unfiorms. By saying "yeah well it could be worse"
