Anovos is Outta Business and Star Trek Fans SOL

I am with you there. I have multiple thousands of dollars worth of undelivered items. It would be nice to get most of them after all. It is hard to believe that an officially licensed producer could go off the reservation this much without the licensing department not doing something about that situation like Disney has with the outstanding Anovos, and EFX as well, Star War products?

The rise and fall of Anovos is a cautionary tale of how an organization can go from providing excellent products and reasonable customer service to becoming a Ponzi scheme by creating a vast number of preorders and taking the cash for these products up front without ever delivering any of it, at least to this point in time. This situation was made even worse by the apparent cover provided by being an officially licensed producer which would seemingly guarantee some protection and legal recourse against such a scam, one would have hoped. This could still turnout well, but you have to wonder.

OK, so I also just received my package of pips and squeaks, *BUT* with ONE NOTABLE DIFFERENCE and you could have knocked me over with a feather when I got it.
The packet was addressed from "Fulfillment ANOVOS 1209 S 10th St. Suite 674 McAllen, TX 78501"
Yep, it actually said ANOVOS on it. And the post mark is March 21, 2022, so this is a very recent development. I too am out an ungodly amount of money from ANOVOS for the TWOK uniform Mark 2, the STV bomber jacket, the TWOK Away Jacket, a S2 TOS Wrap and a FC Jacket. Some of these were listed as IN STOCK when I ordered them, and they just never came. I don't suppose it's too much to ask that at least the IN STOCK orders may actually still be shipping (which would help just a smidge, but not wipe ALL the egg off my face).
Saw other posters on here had similar issues, so thought I would chime in.

Interesting that there is still some entity out there calling itself Anovos filling orders, albeit stupid-late. I wouldn't have expected that.

So, I just did an accounting of my outstanding orders and I've got 5 in total. 2 of them were not listed as preorder items in my receipts, so maybe I've got a shot on those. Will keep everyone posted.

Any updates? I haven't read anything from FB or other sites; I'm hoping maybe there was some news learned from the members.

Sadly, I have no new information. I've seen Star Wars orders get filled, and I've reached out to another licensor that makes jackets to see if they can help, and I got directed back to Duevo Novo (I think that's the name of the company who has the Star Wars license). Duevo Novo says that they don't have the Star Trek license, and refer me back to Anovos who has not answered my last 3 support tickets. I've seen Star Wars orders getting filled by the new company (I didn't order anything Star Wars related from Anovos). I reached out to CBS, and got no reply.

I wish I had some good news to share, but I don't. I keep hoping that one day my First Contact/DS9 jacket will show up, but I've given up on that ever happening.

Sadly I'm not sure Trek merchandise is a profitable business.
Not to mention the lack of novels in months and months. Playmates are probably looking at their Star Trek orders and slicing a zero off the production run as we speak.

I genuinely thought it would be the TV Trekkake that fell first, imagining a world without Trek merchandise is... weird.

A big part of the merchandising, as I understand it, is the licensing. I was hoping that the CBS/Paramount merger might have made it a little less of an oppressive amount that takes so much out of a licensee's margin. Maybe they did and licensees still can't make it work. I honestly don't know all the details. It just seems counterproductive to me to make licensing costs so horrendously expensive that it forces these smaller companies out of business. I don't know - maybe I'm talking completely out of my ass with this one, but I've seen this pattern for decades and it doesn't seem to be changing any time soon.

True. The details of the fall of Eaglemoss are beyond our reach right now. Maybe always will be, unless Ben decides to do a tell-all on his Twitter page.

We really don't know if Trek sales killed Eaglemoss or that they simply overextended themselves.
True but it gives me a huge amount of pause in terms of viability. You have McFarlane barely doing anything when it had the Trek license. I see model kits still sitting on the shelves at Walmart. I occasionally see the Mego style action figures for sale but not a lot, even in specialty stores. Anovos obviously had a pretty poor business model but Eaglemoss also gives me a lot more pause.

I'm not saying I know for sure but it's a lot of data points that I can't help but be skeptical of the viability of the merchandise market.
