Another way JJ slapped fans in the face...

He knew that making "Enterprise" the only previous show that still counts within canon now would make some fans mad. No TOS, TNG, DS9, or VOY. Everything erased except the worst Star trek show of all time. The new movie even made a point to mention that "Enterprise" is the only one that counts by having Scotty mess with Admiral Archers beagle thus his exile. So there you have it. The only true canon now is Enterprise and this new movie. HA!:guffaw:

Only if your thinking is that ... linear.

Personally, I'd be ashamed if mine were. Q tried to teach us all better. Did you learn NOTHING from the TNG finale?!

;)

Ugh, they all still exist, bla bla bla, been through this a million times already

Just give up, there's no point. There are people who have chosen to be stubborn and thick, and just want to hate the movie without reason.
Let them and don't worry about it.

I very much doubt that anyone involved in making this movie thought about it in those terms at all, at any point. You'd have to come up with something really more substantial in order to even begin to make the argument persuasively.

Well if we've been thru this a million times you still don't mind because you posted. Don't make out like your sick of it, you took the time to read and respond. They have computers in NC. wow.

Hey wait a minute people. I thought the film was wonderful. I enjoyed every minute of it. Im not stubborn or closed minded. I think its great that he slapped some fans who were exactly what everyone is calling me. The movie was great and I look forward to seeing it again. Dennis, change that avatar your scaring kids.

ENT is the only show directly referenced in the movie because it's the only one that takes place before the movie. The writers tried to work in many nods to Trek fans, so apparently, pissing of fans was the last thing on their minds.
Besides, the other series still happen in Spock Prime's original time line. Besides, they're only TV shows and no one is stopping anyone from watching the DVDs or reading the books or playing the games based on them.

I hear a swarm of robots have been sent out from Abrams' underground lair whose sole purpose it is to destroy every manifestation of all treks except this new film and ENT...

...they're such Bad Robots.

You've got to understand, initially, your thread looks like one of the hundreds in the past two days where people insist that J.J.'s trying to disrespect/hate/rape childhoods of the fanbase. I have no problem with someone not liking the movie, we're all different, but I've reached my limit on people who hate the movie for hate's sake. At first it seemed like you might have been one. Good to see that you're not, and I apologize for counting you among them.

Enterprise doesn't still count within Abramsverse Canon. Most of the story arcs in Enterprise were triggered by Future Guy communicating with Archer and the Temporal Cold War in the 29th century of whatever. If the timeline has been changed in Kirks time, then the temporal cold war will probably never happen and future guy will probably never be born. Hence no communication with Archer, and the Enterprise missions are completely different. The crew still exists, but theres no way the missions could be the same because the same future events that led to Future Guy communicating with Archer wont happen.

"

i disagree
you act as if they went to another dimension
no...this movie is the SAME dimension, they went back in time and changes important events

i imagine the other shows still happen, just slightly altered
its like in the ds9 ep little green men quark goes back and i think there is a picture of them in a history book (something along those lines) they went back in time, changed something, and it was still there when they went to the future

like when sisqo went back and acted as a historic figure, then his picture was in history books

same with this, if you were to go to the 24th century now, it'd be different.

I didn't get slapped.

I did, however, get goosed in the frosset pouch. By a goose, as it goes. We have very strange cinemas where I live...

And I really liked the ENT reference, I loved the show, so I didn't feel slapped, either.
