another new uniform pic

Making such judgements based on blurry, smuggled cellphone pics of a film shoot is easily one of the most assinine notions I've heard in several months around here.

Clearly you've not been hanging around here often enough.

On the contrary.. I have been here at least since the first couple of seasons of VOY and have seen plenty of "interesting" opinions.

The abilty to jump to wild conclusions based on so very little will probably never cease to amaze me.

Is this a field jacket they wear over top of their standard pullover shirts or something? Odd. Reminds me of the uniforms from STARSHIP TROOPERS minus all the Wehrmacht/Nazi-like trim and decorations.

Perhaps this is a Starfleet "absorbed" MACO uniform; as someone above said - a space marine.

Well with only 150 million to spend, it would be fitting if they recycled the Starship Troopers outfits for the 150 millionth time.

Blurry lo-res goodness aside, they look very Forbidden Planet meets The Cage. Therefore if they don't have Leslie Nelson as an Admiral giving Kirk the keys to his first starship, it'll be a travesty! TRAVESTY!

I will soooo boycott this film if Leslie Neilsen isn't in it...as

**SPOILER ALERT***

Admiral Frank Drebin.

"I'm Admiral Frank Drebin...Starfleet Command! And don't let me catch any of you goons in Sector 001!"

(*Falls off gangway and plummets to floor of hangar deck as theme music begins*)

Damn. You beat me to it. This is the Starfleet Mobile Infantry. For sure and certain. And this time, they're gonna have power armor.

AND DROP SUITS!!!!

I passed that stage long ago. Now it merely irritates me.

Perhaps this has been said (haven't read the whole thread) but it looks like she's on her way to report to Lord Vader.

I hope she doesn't have bad news.

We haven't seen a pre-TOS cadet uniform before. We haven't seen a pre-TOS security uniform. We don't know anything specific about the timeframe or even plot of this film, so how can anyone say that this film is a reboot or not.

Shore Leave... Finnigan. The cadet uniform was very much like the duty unitforms but with a different badge, color and texture.

How are we to tell that this is a "cadet uniform"? It's worn by an adult Finnegan, in a completely fake setting. Moreover, as said, it's also worn by another mature person in the tavern of "Trouble with the Tribbles", an unlikely cadet.

Not to mention that it looks really silly. Anything but that, now that we have the perfect opportunity to choose so.

(If the silver sweater absolutely has to be connected with Starfleet Academy somehow, I declare it is the attire of choice for the Academy Parrises Squares team.)

I think the uniforms do look like the Star Wars Imperial Officer uniforms. If they ARE the ST XI ones. I WON'T be seeing the movie.

If that's your primary concern for judging a movie - Trek fans are worse off then I thought... but then I'm sure more then a few Transfan's made similier assertions seeing Prime and look how well that worked out.

Though statements like this make me sad for liking Trek at all.

And ah someplace up thread there's a link to a Cage uniform that looks very much like this...

Remember those Grey overcoat things from The Cage? Honestly, It's not like we saw every single possible article of clothing in existance from watching the unbroadcast pilot episode.

DON'T PANIC, FOR THE LOVE OF LANDRU DON'T PANIC!!!!!!

EEEEAAAAAGH!!!

Because Kirk sees him as Finnegan was then -- there's even commentary on the fact that Kirk is now "an old man" while Finnegan hasn't aged at all.

And why the agism? Why does a cadet have to be young in a future where people are judged for their character rather than the prejudices of old? After all, to use your reasoning, what evidence have we seen that excludes the possibility of an older cadet?
