We haven't seen a pre-TOS cadet uniform before. We haven't seen a pre-TOS security uniform. We don't know anything specific about the timeframe or even plot of this film, so how can anyone say that this film is a reboot or not.

Making such judgements based on blurry, smuggled cellphone pics of a film shoot is easily one of the most assinine notions I've heard in several months around here.

Even if things are redesigned, that doesn't make it a reboot in terms of continuity. Practically every flashback we've ever seen in Trek has had inconsistencies in the way things looked.

Although I will grant that we never saw what security guards looked like in WNMHGB or The Cage.

I agree, but apparently some of this may take place when Kirk was a cadet, which would easily predate the events of TOS at least 10-15 years, n'est-ce pas?

The Academy rumour WAS debunked. No one is saying that this is the Starfleet Academy movie, but think about who they've cast and the bits of rumour we've had so far. It's highly probable that this story will be told in flashbacks over several time periods. Other wise, why would they cast Pike AND Chekov?? Wynona Rider and that Aussie dude as Kirk's father?? Think about the ages of these actors.

I'm not ruling out the possibility of a reboot, but I have seen and heard nothing that would make me believe that it is either.

Wasn't there just word that they had filmed a scene at a Starfleet Acadamy graduation, which, in theory, might be at Starfleet Academy with Academy Cadets? Just throwing that thought out there...
