The uniforms in "The Cage" had hats.

I seem to remember some hats when they first beamed to the planet in the cage, anyone have a screen shot of them on the planet in the grey uniforms? Or Maybe it was just the grey uniforms.

No, no hats on the surface of Talos IV.

But Pike DID have a "captain's hat" in his quarters on the Enterprise in the first pilot, somewhere in the background of the set when both Pike and Dr. Boyce come in. Hanging off the edge of some piece of furniture.

Also, in an early draft of the script, Pike - or maybe it was April at that point - actually puts on his hat when he's on the bridge.

It was sitting on top of the big console TV set in the middle of the room.

Yeah, that scene is in The Star Trek Companion. It takes place shortly after the Rigel incident and shows April (later Winter, then Pike) in a hallway dressing down a young officer, who was responsible for firing the first shot that started the whole damn thing. In this case, the Rigellians were insect-like creatures and the officer fired at them because the looked scary, or something-like that. The officer is then placed on a transport that the Yorktown (later Enterprise) has met up with to take the injured to a better medical facility. As April walks down the hallway to the officer, he is given a jacket and captain's cap.

IIRC, the cap is also stated in script direction in the final draft of "The Cage." The God Thing probably knows for sure.
