Another New Series Proposal

Something's amiss here... We (common U.S. Army guys) were taught anti-sniper tatics away back in Viet-nam.

The SEALS deal with that stuff on a day to day basis. (This is their stock and trade.)

As to target identification, the U.S. Army reserve component (Circa Mid to late 1990s) spent a great deal of time on identifying vehicles...it was part of my unit's C.T.T. (common task training).

This link would seem to disagree with your analysis about friendly-fire incidents. This seems to be a Brit-v-Brit friendly fire, that was not caused by Americans.

Not arguing that identification isn't critically important, and possibly a weak spot in U.S. training doctrine, but still... these two tanks (both Challenger II's) were unable to avoid it either due to that old bugaboo -- The Fog of War.
