Another cop show question

Do you think of the idea of a cop show that takes place on a Native American reservation? This thought was brought on by something I read in a review on the latest episode of Breaking Bad.

Tribal police seem to see a lot of action around here, the people who go onto the rez to hit the various clubs and the casinos give them a lot of grief. A cop show where the rez is close to a major urban area would be a good idea. If the rez is in the middle of nowhere like the Dakotas, boring.

Yeah. You'd have a lot of scenes of them pulling over drunk drivers who only went to the reservation to buy cheap, tax-free cigarettes.:p

Actually, that sounds like a decent idea for a series. I even know what the title would be: Off the Reservation.

IIRC, Masterpiece Mystery has adapted a few of Tony Hillerman's novels. I think at least some of those are on Indian reservations.

They adapted three of his novels featuring Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn (with Wes Studi and Adam Beach in the leads!), all of which take place, at least in part, on Navajo lands.

I wouldn't mind another shot at adapting the Leaphorn/Chee series, perhaps with an eye towards a weekly television series.

I was hoping the question would be:

Do you think a Law & Order spinoff based around a CSI unit would work?

Meh, not really I mean, nothing against the people that live in a reservation, or work there, etc... but what I mean is, I find cop shows to be generally less desirable these days. They usually end up being pretty formulaic, with the cops themselves breaking the kind of laws that should land their asses in jail and the most that happens is their boss(es) chew them out. Just gets to all be the same after a while, and it's just kind of boring to me now.

No, a Law & Order CSI wouldn't work, any of the spin offs that tried to be about something other then the cops, has failed within the first season.

You could have a show about a P.I. who works for a divorce attorney and investigates reports of infidelity. Call it the Bureau of Indian Affairs. :guffaw:
