The director of Eden seemed to bumble his way through some scenes. I remember Walter Koenig complained about the segment with Irina in the lounge because his left ear dominated his over-the-shoulder shots.

Chekov definitely needs a neck shave, that's for sure...
If Spock were in that scene, we'd see the joins between the latex/plastic/bee wax ear prosthetic and the real flesh. That is something of smacking great closeup in the final front-ear...
I'd have to see the entire scene again in full context, but ear's the question: What might have been a better looking angle? (Apart from the obvious ones, but I tend to be clueless about those... If they did it from the opposite point of view, we wouldn't see Irina's face... and her ears are completely covered by hair, long beautiful hair... they did spend a ton of time and money on her hairdo*. It's very 1960s** but still has a bit of a style and polish to it.)
** and thus better than most styles today, I just did an image search and 97% of the pictures made that skunk I saw splattered on the freeway look more alluring...
