News Annie Wersching will play the Borg Queen in Season 2 of Picard

I never minded the borg queen because I never saw her as an individual. I always saw her as an avatar speaking for the collective. She's definitely not my favorite villain since she doesn't have multiple layers to her like Dukat but overall I think she's a fun character to watch even if some of her lines are too much of a BWAWAHAHA villain.

With the timing of the announcement........we may not see her until season 3.......she might actually be THE cliffhanger for 2.

Kinda disappointed they didn't bring back Alice Krige.

In a way, yes, me too, but then again, I think... Maybe, it also would have been a bit curious for the Borg Queen to stay in such an 'old body' and I hope, that they will address this fact (especially, in comparism to Picard, who wanted to stay 'old' even as an android).

That depends on whether the queen is software or hard ware. On Voyager she Borg designated which species she was, but behind the Scenes Susanna said that she was told that she was playing the same Queen as Alice, but she chose not to watch First Contact because it would surely influence her performance.

One woman, with two deaths.

Of Course the Queen survived to go back in time to meet meet Picard in the time line where Admiral Janeway stayed in the Future... Or did the Queen only pretend to die at the end of First Contact, and then 300 years later she mets Seven of Nine?

I liked the Borg Queen in First Contact, she was good in VOY, and Picard isn't reinventing the wheel so much as picking up where the wheel left off, just in a different style. They've been moving towards giving the Borg more of a voice since the end of "The Best of Both Worlds, Part I". As long as she's a good foil, or at least has a good presence, she'll add something to the show.

Educated Guess: I think she's in Season 2 (not just the end of it) because they'll keep everything about Season 3 under wraps at least until Season 2 is out. Terry Metalas -- the new showrunner -- is supposed to be a huge Back to the Future fan. He's not going to reveal what Season 3 (Part III) is about before Season 2 (Part II) is out. That's not how it was done in BTTF where they also shot things back-to-back. We didn't get a glimpse of anything about the third installment until right after "To Be Concluded..." That's when they'll start telling us what they intend to tell us about Season 3, aside from already knowing that Q will be there.

I'll eat this post after Season 2, if I turn out to be wrong. :p

Cool I guess? I'm no fan of Discovery, but to its credit, it's the only Trek show offering something genuinely new and fresh. Hopefully season 2 will prove me wrong!

Also to be fair, that's probably not limited to Trek. Most entertainment these days trades on something already established.

I always thought having a Queen took away from what was scary about the Borg, and just introduced another moustache-twirling, evil-plot-revealing villain, and I frankly would have been fine with no more Borg. But as DS9 changed my mind about the Ferengi and DSC got me interested in Klingons again, Picard's callbacks to the Borg have me interested. I'm still hoping the plot might involve Seven becoming the Queen, or something.

Uneducated guess: She doesn't show up until the tail end of Season 2.....BUT they are going to show a shot of her in the trailer next week on the 8th for Star Trek Day........and God I hope it isn't with the line......."Hello again Locutus"........Maybe its just part of the Q "A Christmas Carol" plotline?

I'm guessing with the time travel to 21st century Cali, we're getting Borg Origins and she'll be some scientist dabbling in all the wrong stuff...
