Anime is dying

For every spam thread whofan makes, god kills someone's Onē-chan.

Please think of the Onē-chans of the world. :(

The thread was worthwhile as it made me google " bullet time breasts"

What is an One-(I don't know how the do the line above the e)-chan?
A romanized Japanese word which means "sister". I don't know how to do it with my keyboard either I just copied it from someplace and pasted it.

Onē-chan = little Sister (Hence the little girl in the picture)

A big sister would be an Onē-san

-chan and -sama are a part of the Japanese language called honorifics used to denote familiar relations for siblings or close friends.

Oh, ok. I thought maybe they were like a race from an anime series or something.

-chan and -sama are a part of the Japanese language called honorifics used to denote familiar relations for siblings or close friends. This is where it gets confusing though because they can also be used as signs of respect in which case their meaning can be different. IE a younger sister calling her older brother Oni-chan just means they are close and she wanted to use the less respectful honorific as a term of endearment.
I thought that Sama meant that they held them in great respect, and that it was usually One-san for older sisters.

Maybe, I'm far from a Japanese major or anything, I only know what I've assimilated from watching subbed Japanese anime and live action which is like a couple hundred words. I could very well have gotten them mixed up because they're both honorifics that started with S.

EDIT: Now that you mention it, it does sound more right to me that way so I went ahead and changed it.

No but I did get the idea from this popular image, which has been making the rounds for years, and does do that.

The e in japanese is always pronounced similar to ay, the symbol signifies a long vowel, it's not an accent and doesn't change the pronunciation except for making the sound twice as long.

*sigh* Very Well, more edits. :(

I don't watch Torchwood,m but from what I've heard, Captain Jack would put the moves on pretty much anything!

From what I've heard, Captain Jack will get you high tonight and take you to your special island.

What happens on the island stays on the island.

The OP's failure aside, I'm not sure if I've truly enjoyed an anime series since the brilliant Azumanga Daioh. I guess that depends on whether or not we count adapted works, such as the Supernatural and Persona 4 anime versions, both of which are surprisingly watchable yet no substitute for the original source material.

Anime films are a different story. Way I figure it, as long as cats like Miyazaki are still around, there will always be something to look forward to... though the loss of Satoshi Kon last year was a huge blow. :(

Azumanga is hilarious. I still watch it sometimes. One of my other faves is Ouran High School Host Club.

And I think Kon died way too young.

What IS it with cat girls, anyway?

If Captain Jack tried to put the moves on an insect girl, why not?

And that was a cute insect girl, by the way.

How does that work? :wtf:

Any pics? :wtf:

Enjoy! :D She's pretty cute for an insect. I'd be putting the moves on her as well. :techman:
