Anime is dying

They can be annoying subbed.

It would be ok if they could be permanently killed off.

But they can't. They're like Jason Voorhees.

Season 1 killed them off, Season 2 brought them back.

Season 2 killed them off, Solid State Society brought them back.

You can't get away from them.

Actually, they were replaced by less advanced Fuchikomas at the end of 2nd Gig (Fuchikomas come straight from the original manga. Tachikomas were a modification).

I know ( I always approve of deeper robot voices - I'm looking at you, George Lucas ), but then the Tachikomas came back.

I cannot stand 99.9% of anime, but I have very specific reasons. For me, the most prevalent is that EVERY SINGLE anime out there just HAS to have the absolute most annoying high-pitched and shrill female voices for the female characters... I cannot stand the female voices in anime... they sound so gratingly childish and shrill... and loudly so.

The second reason is that again, no matter how "serious" the mood or story of a given anime, EVERY SINGLE frakking one has to have some super-childish and uber-"cutesy" little creature or robot with nothing but a pair of eyes that's meant to convey a feeling of such sweetness and uber-cuteness that one look can induce a diabetic coma. Such creatures or robots usually only communicate in equally demure and "cute" beeps, whines, or squeaks. Hell, I saw one anime where the freaking A.I. of a damn starship was one of these cuddly-wuddly fuzzballs with eyes... are you frakking kidding me?

So yeah, those are the main reasons I do not like anime and cannot stand it. Those two elements most of all not only irritate me to no end, but prevent me from being able to enjoy the actual story, and take me out of the mood... especially the cutesy creature stuff... ugh.

Did not JJ Trek have such a little creature as well?

Puritanism has a dark side. America is often a schizophrenic mix of industrial-strength sleaze and apparent "puritanism" at the same time. Consider the relative disappearance of full frontal nudity in film, the hyperbolic overreaction to the Watchmen penis, and the campaign against smoking ( on screen and off ).

GITS has a female protagonist with a deep, adult voice.

But then again there are the Tachikomas...

Don't forget the FCC's and Bush's "decency crusade" back in 2004. The Puritans and the rest of the religious right went on a rampage. And don't forget England's useless bitch, Mary Whitehouse, who actually personally called actors from TV shows and movies she disapproved of. Tom Baker was one of her worse adversaries.

That sounds/looks so stupid. One of the things I dislike about anime is how over the top the fanservice is.

I'm glad The Walking Dead has never pulled any of that crap. Some people might complain about the writing on TWD sometimes, but there is pretty much zero female fanservice. The kiling zombies thing should be enough reason to watch.

Yep, this one was my favorite title to come out of 2010. (Which probably doesn't really say much since 2010 was sort of crappy year for anime, but it was the best thing I watched that year.) Great story, interesting characters, and all the over-the-top action and fanservice made it an epic hit in my book. Heck, I usually hate zombie stuff, but this got me to watch a show about it. See page 7 for a trailer.

It really needs another season though.

Indeed, Whofan has done more for the anime genre than any advertising campaign.

I'm now almost convinced that if i watch anime on my laptop, it'll strike me deaf, dumb and blind, while simultaneously opening a portal to an interdimensional elder god who will try to look up the skirt of anyone near by. Which makes a genre i dislike far more interesting.
