Angel is so good

Yeah, that's the point where season seven gets kinda dumb. Though the finale was pretty good. I still don't understand though why:
They didn't active the potentials before they went into the hellmouth. It could have prevented many deaths.

The fight between Angel's team and the Beast in Apocalypse Nowish is probably the best fight in the whole series. Especially because the team gets their asses thoroughly handed to them.

Right. And that was the first time we saw Wesley, the gun-toting, half-crazy badass.

Really? I loved season five. It has at least five of the series's best episodes.

Oh, I loved Season 5 too. But at the same time, I kinda felt going in that they were only going to be able to keep that story going for one season before it came to its inevitable conclusion. After that, the only thing possibly left to them to do is what they've been doing in the comics. But like I said, I doubt they could do that on a TV budget.

Just watched a few more episodes of each series.

Angelus is back! That fake-out episode where the Shaman removes his soul totally PISSED ME OFF! The whole show pissed me off! IN SUCH A GOOD WAY! Fuck Joss Whedon. I hate him. He needs to stop toying with my emotions.

Buffy is still pretty good, I think. I'm still really Season 7 more than any since Season 3. I'm a little tired of the Willow Lesbian nonsense (does she really need ANOTHER girlfriend in the midst of all that's going on? Isn't there some other story we could be telling instead?). My favorite part of the last few episodes was definitely Xander's speech to Dawn about how he knows what it means to be one of the guys without powers. I got a little teary-eyed.

Yeah, I always thought the same thing. :D But they went for the more dramatic approach, I suppose.

Oh, I do want to mention that I am getting really tired of Charles Gunn. I've never been his hugest fan. He seems to play "Angry Black Man" more often than anything else (one of my least favorite cliches of all time), and it's especially worse now with all the angsty Wesley/Fred jealousy. Anytime he has some snarky comment I usually end up rolling my eyes or yelling at him to shut up.

He is one of the few black characters in science fiction who is actually written as black, rather than merely having dark skin.

Well, he did grow up in the LA south central gang culture. That was his entire life until about three years ago, from your current perspective. So it's entirely understandable IMO that he would have some of those stereotypical "black" attitudes and behaviours.

But there's also much more to him than that. He's been shown to actually be the best detective of the group, without an ounce of training or superpowers. He's not racist - his best friend for a while there was the very white, very British Wesley, and he is in love with the very white, very non-gang-like Fred. He's angry with Wesley over what he sees as a betrayal of their friendship, not just because he's an "angry black man."

Oh, I get the kind of character he's supposed to be. He's just so whiney about everything lately...

I loved the whole Angelus-as-Hannibal-Lector episode with him locked up
"Ah, Fred. You look all fresh and sweet, but I hear you at night in your room, with Gunn. The things you say. I'm lying there, listening, hands under the covers... I can't help myself. It's so... gripping"

Wow, just read the new #15 issue of Angel:ATF. Beyond awesomeness; the comic equivilent of episodes like The Gift, Becoming pt.2, Not Fade Away, etc
Probably the most exciting and gripping issue of a comic I've ever read. Some major stuff happens in this one, and there's still two issues to go...

He changes in S5 while still remaining the same person. Matures, I'll say.
