Andorians

Flying Spaghetti Monster

Vice Admiral
Admiral
the Andorians in Episode 2 look like TOS andorians (and the one Andorian shown in TNG) with antenna on the top of the head, with a suction cup like tip. In Enterprise, they were redesigned to come from the forehead (and they had the ability to move thanks to practical special effects). It was that design that was used for Discovery Season One.. However, in episode 2 of Picard, they are closer to the first design (I prefer the second design)

Well what we saw of those Andorians was that they were females. It could be that they look more like the Andorians we are used to and the horned males are still out there.

I'm just happy they have eyebrows again, though they should be white and longer in the center XD

Just had a random thought while re-watching Ep2. Were the Andorians one of the 14 members that left the Federation? Is that why they are now working with the Romulans and free Borg?

The Andorians in Discovery were a lot more front and center. They were named characters with dialogue. So stands to reason because of that their make up would be a lot more detailed. You don't really need to do that for background characters that are only going to be on screen for a few seconds and they're not looking directly into the camera.

Look at the make up of the aliens that are walking toward the camera or a focus of it. Their make up is a lot more detailed overall.

What they should have done is painted one of the Andorians green, like that bluescreen-compatible hologram Lal considered for a face. Imply that it's an ethnic minority rather than just a random exception.

I'd be happy with just a bit of diversity in the antenna department.

That would be good too. But that green one being a complete one off has always bugged.

I thought the Picard Andorians looked cheaply done. Even the TOS ones showed more effort.

This.

Why waste money on what is merely a background actor giving them the little things that make their costume expensive when nobody will see it.

Yeah, it's called bluffing. Federation didn't call their bluff and just folded.
Yeah the Federation knew they were serious, the Romulans havent really made many friends over the years.

How hard would it to have Andorians in the background (or Klingons for that matter) that look like every version of them we've seen? Yay diversity (insert shooting star gif here)
