Guess I'll stop watching.Star Wars had over 20 Emmy nominations and got nothing. NOTHING!!!

For who?I mean, I knew it was going to happen. But a win would have been nice...
That's my preference too.And only one of the eleven existing Star Wars movies has ever been nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, and the one that did didn't even win. I'm cool with things I love not being popular with the hip/"in" crowds in Hollywood.
I'm far, far, far more disgusted that Better Call Saul got 58 during its entire run and won nothing. Pure shit, that.Star Wars had over 20 Emmy nominations and got nothing. NOTHING!!!

Yeah, but it would be nice to see something people like us enjoy get some wider recognition. It might not impact us personally, but I do like to see stuff I enjoy be successful. So what?
As long as we appreciate it then it's good.
I guess I don't see the appeal.Yeah, but it would be nice to see something people like us enjoy get some wider recognition. It might not impact us personally, but I do like to see stuff I enjoy be successful.
Or maybe cumulative goodness is not peak goodness, and therefore despite its deservedly beloved status a work has never been individually as great to deserve that particular kind of accolade?Nice, definitely. But Star Wars rarely gets the love from the creative community that it usually deserves.
What does and does not get awards has bugger all to do with being "hip". Indeed it's quite the opposite since the majority of the people that vote on these kinds of things (especially the Oscars) are predominantly crusty old white dudes that prefer "cinema" to movies. And only one of the eleven existing Star Wars movies has ever been nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, and the one that did didn't even win. From what I've read, there's a LOT of deep seated resentment in a certain quarter of the Hollywood establishment over the continued popularity of Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Superheroes. Scorsese's little tantrum 5 years back is pretty indicative of this mindset, and it's only gotten worse as the "fad" refuses to die (which IMO disqualifies it as a fad since it's been a controlling force at the box office for coming up to half a century!) So yeah, don't expect a lot of votes from Academy members for genre properties until the boomers in their ranks start dying off.Yeah, but it would be nice to see some recognition from the wider community once in a blue moon. I hate that our stuff is still "ghettoized". I've seen so many things in genre works that are (IMO) Oscar/Emmy worthy, it just feels like a slap in the face sometimes.
