Spoilers Andor season one

So, another episode with no droids and a couple of aliens thrown in at the end.

I predicted Skarsgard was going to say "Everything", just without the preamble.

I really didn't feel that this season lived up to Cassian saying "I've been in it [the fight against the Empire] since I was 6 years old."

Well, for one thing, there was no Empire when he was 6 years old. At least according to this show.

I really like the idea that we never find out what happens to him. Let it be a mystery; Cassian changed the course of his life, but he'll never know what happened afterward, or even if he made it off the platform. Ambiguity is undervalued these days.
Yes, please. Enough with the nice little bows on things. It's ok to not know.

I'm watching the episode as we 'speak.' Not reading any comments yet, to avoid spoilers, so apologies if this observation has already been made... In Luthen's shop that looks like the same type of headgear that Padme wore in her peasant disguise in AOTC!

Not observed here but yes I noticed it.

I thought the prison break sequence was impressive. However, I'm still not impressed by the series overall.

I hope they don't take the snobs praising this show
And I hope they don't listen to the philistines.

That would explain a lot. But still, most of my comments stand. I really feel this season should have more of Cassian being a rebel. Some of the stuff is cool, but the pacing is so slow.
I really like the pacing of the show. But from the viewpoint that I think they should do 5 seasons.

Fantastic! The whole theme of this series, about liberation from an oppressive empire, and taking your power into your own hands, has been on point and culminates into real action so beautifully in this episode. Just well done all around. This whole episode is about class awareness, about knowing who you are, who your friends and comrades are, and where you are in relation to power systems that seek to manipulate you into doing their work for their benefit at the cost of your life and the lives of your friends.
Just fantastic!
It seemed a rather well timed episode too....

Spoilers. He survives only to get killed by Han Solo's son decades later.

Was anyone else bothered by the fact that the blasters didn't seem to be actually blowing holes in anything?

I am definitely looking forward to finding out how Cassian and others manage to get off of the prison planet now that they are out of the facility. I was thinking they would have to commandeer a ship coming to the prison with new prisoners or supplies, but maybe there are some other ports or whatever on the planet.

The Ghost being piloted by Hera from "Rebels" shows up and rescues them.

Oh my God . . . we have to go through that in detail?

You've just described the Original Trilogy, "Rogue One" and the Sequel Trilogy.

I find myself wondering how long they’re going to get away with minimalism in the Senate scenes.

For one thing, there should be a lot more aliens.

I see that as an indicator of how human-centric the Empire had become. In the OT we never saw aliens in positions of authority in the Empire. And so many pods being empty (and lack of anyone to preside/moderate) shows that the Senate is an ineffectual shadow of its former self in the Republic era.

Also, I thought this week's episode was fantastic. While I enjoy The Mandalorian more as casual entertainment, I recognize that Andor is by far the superior series of the two.

Wouldn't that just be Palpatine's redistributing power? The Senate served its purpose but now he is moving from representation, i.e. the Senate pods, to more regionalized power, allowing him to manipulate each piece against the other.

In one of the earlier episodes you could see an alien of some kind in the senate.

Someone said Lucas' cameo character of Baron Papanoida from ROTS is in the Senate chamber in an earlier episode(with a new actor, of course) and if that's him then his species is Pantoran. Humanoid. But not human.

The old EU had the Empire be a human supremacist government that barred non-humans from any position of power. Thrawn being one of the few exceptions. I wouldn’t be surprised if they kept that detail and non-humans aren’t be allowed to be Senators.
Indeed, save for perhaps a few token alien races to carry the notion that the Empire is an equal rules based order.

The Chiss(at least Thrawn if nobody else from their species). Maybe the Pantorans. Humanoids but "human enough" that the Emperor can pretend he's still embracing a level of diversity, since, hey, blue skin and different colored eyes.
