Spoilers Andor season one

But if you speed it up then it means you got to cut lots of stuff. Some of it that is also no doubt setting stuff up in the future like Cassian and his sister as kids. The cops would loose lots of texture and just be boring one note brute cops. But here we see things from their perspective.

See, it would be fine if it made me care more about these characters. Right now, as it stands it feels like it is focusing on the secondary characters so much while I still don't care about the main character. It's a fine line of balance that hasn't quite warmed me to the style...yet.

I do think they are trying to make the audience care though by establishing his connection to his sister. Plus with his mom. I do think they don't want to reveal to much to soon. They want to give him a arc were we learn more and more over the 12 episodes.

I know what they are trying to do. But, you ask why do people feel like it is going too slow? Well, it's because it's taking these little tiny things and pulling them apart in a way that is not satisfying...yet. It might become satisfying down the road. But, for me at least, when I am not inclined to care about Cassian learning about his sister and his mother doesn't endear him further to me.

I understand. While I agree Cassian is not the most compelling lead ever I like him enough that all this stuff does work for me.

So, around social media, there's much talk about the first couple of episodes should have been condensed to one film, and that Cassian is not the most interesting character one would use to base a series on, considering how he was received by some in what was to be his "greatest" adventure in Rogue One.

"you wanna fight these bastards for real"

Your damn right I do.

After a good but slow start episode 3 is unbelievable. The Empire, the rebellion, the whole lot has been so we'll realized and a story and fight that I instantly fell invested in.

Special credit to Shaw and Skarsgard who really know how to make a scene dramatic.

Rogue One sort of established him as some master spy, but 5 BBY, he's pretty much a nobody, on a backwater planet, and even there he's heavily in debt. Also his spy work on trying to locate his sister was awful.

Guess I'm biased, I think Rogue One was the worst wars movie, and Luna's character was dull as dishwater in it. My opinion has little changed from 3 episode, honestly its kinda gone down. Hopefully it goes better in the rest of the show.

I don't think RO established him as any kind of "master spy" at all. He's the guy you send when you need something very, very bad done by somebody willing to justify it by working for "the good guys." He's basically a thief and assassin. Everything we're not supposed to think about when we think about the heroic rebellion. Meeting Jyn makes him think about all the awful things he's done, and why. Was it for a cause, or just because he's the guy who does bad things to survive?

The most interesting thing in Andor so far is that we sort of get our answer. He's the guy who does bad things to survive. Even when the stakes aren't terribly high, limited solely to himself, he kills with ease. Cassian Andor is NOT a good person. He never will be, until maybe those final few hours. But there's the hope that we'll learn WHY he's this way. Luna gives the character such desperation. Everything feels like it's Fight or Flight, all the time. What makes someone that way?

Well, we've already gotten part of the answer. The corporate police in their sector were corrupt, and two of the officers illegally detained and victimized Andor to shake him down, after he was only trying to get reunited with his sister. Andor killed the criminal police in self defense. Part of the answer is: Andor must survive in a world ruled by evil and corrupt officials, which should come as no surprise given that it's 5 BBY in the galaxy far, far away.

Actually, the first cop died by accident. Andor was using non lethal force. The second Cop was executed because: No witnesses.

If Andor remembered that there were cameras at the brothel, he might have let the second cop live.

Imagine you're waiting in line for a blowjob, and some weird French asshole cuts in line ahead of you?

Sure, she'll brush her teeth between blowjobs, but still there's a principle at stake here.

Some one is going to get their thumb bent backwards until the bone snaps.

No, he didn't intend to kill the first one. I meant that everything he did was to defend himself against the criminal activity of the police. Once the beta was dead, he had no choice about the alpha, and simply escaping by stunning or incapacitating him wasn't a viable option.

He was "borrowing" a ship which would have been seen as theft, and a lot of jail time, which is why he did not want to be questioned.

I just rewatched the scene.

Andor backwards headbutted the first guy, who died instantly.

That's all Andor did.

Andor them spends a minute hitting the other guy until he gets the second guys gun. Then Andor is yelling at the second guy to help the first guy stand up, because he doesn't know that the first guy is dead. It's then that he figures out what he did.

Then Andor shoots the second guy.

First death was deffinatly self defence.

Second was full blown murder and would get him convicted of such in any court on earth. Though I can see why he did it.

That's one of the things I like about this series. That's pretty realistic, a single badly placed blow or bad fall can kill instantly.

The cops were shaking him down. Andor already knew they were corrupt, because they were demanding to be served at a brothel which by law they should have already shut down instead of using. They did not like that the hostess preferred Andor's company over theirs. So they were there to make sure he never came back, by any means necessary that they could get away with. That meant that anything of value he had on him was going to be theirs, and it was likely that they would murder him. Speaking of no witnesses, that's why the cops waited until he was out on the street to accost him. The cops were criminals. It was self-defense.

The cops were not going to beat Andor, or kill him.

There was no immediate threat.

Self defense requires an immediate threat.

They wanted to impound his ship, because they probably get a kick back or a bonus for doing that. They targeted Andor because he laughed at them, and this was their revenge, a legal quagmire and a financial sink hole.

To impound Andor's ship, they needed to take Andor downtown for questioning, and then eventually see him suffer through a day in court, where they can "legally" take his ship, and send him to jail for years, although they didn't know that the ship was stolen, so they couldn't have impounded it anyway. The ship would have been returned to it's legal owner, and Andor would have been sold into slavery.

The legality of the situation is irrelevant, because the justice system there was corrupt. He had no chance of a fair shake. To allow himself to be taken in would have been as good as a death sentence. The situation would not have existed but for the criminal actions of the corrupt cops. If they'd thought he needed to be arrested, searched, or questioned, they could have done that right there in the brothel or just outside it. But instead they waited until there were no witnesses.

I was wondering about that.

Did they both have sex with prostitutes, to completion, and then run after Andor, or did they forgoe the expensive intercourse, and immediately chase after Andor?

What are the odds that they are both minutemen?

Maybe they met in a support group for premature ejaculators?
