Watched the first 3. Not bad- it has my interest even if it's a bit slow. I would personally rate it behind Mandalorian and Kenobi so far. Not sure why the comments about Kenobi "looking cheap". All the new Disney SW tv shows seem to have a consistent quality to them. As an 8 year old in 1977, I would never have believed that they would be able to get SW quality visuals on a TV show.
Well, three episodes in and so far I can say that Andor looks a lot better then Obi-Wan (I mean that literally, having sets and more extras and generally looking more "real", while Obi-Wan was outright abusing the Mando screen tech), its also dull as dishwater, outside of the flashbacks which are infuriating. its Star Wars, so I'll be watching until the end, but these first three episodes could easily have been cut to two if the flashbacks and the repetitive boring stuff got removed. Hopefully the pace picks up, and interesting things actually start happening.
It really could not. It would have felt way too rushed with this runtime.

I'm warming up to the idea that the crashed ship was a false flag operation or something, it was a Republic mission disguised as a CIS operation.
It's too big to be a disconnect somewhere between the art team and writers.

Instead Andor goes home, has a good nights sleep, and then spends 2 days trying to sell some janky shit to criminals, to afford a train ticket, all while the dragnet was tightening.
He should have went to Tatooine, or somewhere else when those rentacops did not have jurisdiction, immediately after killing those police men, which sounds like 28 minutes to me.
Going home was dumb.
Rogue One sort of established him as some master spy, but 5 BBY, he's pretty much a nobody, on a backwater planet, and even there he's heavily in debt. Also his spy work on trying to locate his sister was awful.
Guess I'm biased, I think Rogue One was the worst wars movie, and Luna's character was dull as dishwater in it. My opinion has little changed from 3 episode, honestly its kinda gone down. Hopefully it goes better in the rest of the show.

My interest in Andor has nothing to do with the main character. Cassian in Rogue One sucked. He was edgy because...I don't know why. I didn't like him, and I don't like him right now. Though I don't think he was supposed to be a "master spy" but rather the best that the Alliance had, which was rather incomplete in the film (another mark for me against the film).
But, seeing this era of Star Wars is always interesting to me. So, I'll keep watching the show. No harm, no foul.

I can see Paul in that pic but mostly he reminds me of Pablo Pascal while I'm watching.
I do think they should have simply made the first ep a 90 minute episode. Yeah, I know they released the first 3 in one shot, but it's not the same. If someone is not a diehard SW fan, there is a very good chance that the first ep, as we got it, will completely turn them off and they won't bother with the second. Of course the viewing numbers could prove me full of bantha poodoo.
The flashbacks were too long for what they were trying to convey. Three episodes could have been two and the flashbacks spread (as I imagine more will) throughout the sister storyline. Overall it gave the impression of trying to justify the set budget by spreading it over three hours. For three, it needed another element, a weaving in of other storylines or something else. Another character, a more intimate directing style, a bit more diversity of environment, something.
I do love the overall look of the thing and some the themes touched on, but it was missing an x-factor. On board for the season though. By the trailers this could become my favorite Wars series.
And I liked that it didn’t have a lot of the trappings of the SW universe — Jedi, star-destroyers, etc. it doesn’t need them, and if and when they do show up, they’ll hopefully be that much more awesome for it.

I feel Lucasfilm could have told the story of these first 3 episodes in two episodes or a 90-minute episode. I still wish they had used subtitles for the Kanari children. Why did Maarva think it was necessary to change Kassa's name to Cassian Andor? Hopefully, this will all be explained in a future episode. Those flashbacks COULD NOT have been set during the Clone Wars. Kassa or Cassian looks somewhat older than 6 or 7 years old. And he was 7 when the Clone Wars ended, at least according to Lucasfilm. Otherwise, I'm invested in this series and hope to see how it will pan out.
Did it though? All we saw of him was one meeting with an asset (that he murdered), one babysitting/contact mission with a partisan group, one aborted assassination attempt, and one infiltration/heist of a secure facility (followed by death.)
None of this screamed "master spy" to me. It screamed "exfiltration and wetwork specialist". He's not the guy you send in on a 2 year long double agent mission on Coruscant to infiltrate a Grand Moff's personal security team, or the guy you send to Canto Bight, complete with space-tux and witty one-liners to get close to some Sienar heiress, plant a splice on her personal com and clone her shipyard security access codes.
He's the guy you send in to somewhere deadly to steal something valuable and get out alive.
Also of note is that this show establishes that Cassian already has a record with charges that include; insurrection, destruction of Imperial property, and assault on an Imperial soldier. The "insurrection" one rather jumps out, no? He's clearly no amateur when it comes to sticking it to the Empire. Hell we know for a fact he's already mounted a single handed heist of an Imperial Naval Base. Despite what he claims, that's not nothing.

I don't know why so many think the show was to slow. I felt it was using that time to make this world come to life giving it detail and texture which also includes making even secondary characters with few lines feel like real people.
The show wants to be a drama and not just a fun adventure show like The Mandalorian. Which is fine for both shows and both shows are great at what they are trying to do. Well great so far with Andor. It's only been 3 episodes.
This steak and potato show can turn into 2 day Taco Bell leftovers very fast if the rest of the episodes aren't good but I got a good feeling about this one.

See, it would be fine if it made me care more about these characters. Right now, as it stands it feels like it is focusing on the secondary characters so much while I still don't care about the main character. It's a fine line of balance that hasn't quite warmed me to the style...yet.
