Spoilers Andor season one

That said, it is curious how Maarva referred to a Republic ship, and not an Imperial ship, that was arriving and would probably wipe out the tribe. Which begs the question why Cassian thinks his sister is alive and off planet.

Not that curious. The crashed ship's crew were wearing CIS (aka, the Separatists) patches on their uniforms. I think it's pretty clear the flashbacks predate the Empire.

Maybe but they kept saying that the Republic would kill the boy. They’re not that ruthless unless it was the very early days of the Empire.

Right, I got that (well, except for missing that the crashed ship had Separatists). What I find curious is Maarva's notion that a Republic ship would go down to the surface to wipe out the tribe.

First episode down. Not bad, but if I'm supposed to like Cassian the show has a long way to go. I like the droid well enough. Curious to see how this progress with the investigation.

I can see why they released all three at once as this was not three episodes: it was one, 100 minute long episode divided quite arbitrarily into three. So it will be interesting to see if episode four can stand by itself when it's released next week.

The entire run of the show is broken up into three episodes story arcs.

I only have a few problems with "Andor" after watching two episodes. I had a problem with the abrupt manner in which the episodes ended, lack of subtitles for Kenari, and no lack of knowledge of Cassian’s current profession. Is he supposed to be a thief?

I wish the Obi Wan show was made this well. That looked so cheap compared to this.

I never thought "Obi-Wan Kenobi" looked cheap. But I can see that "Andor" had a slightly bigger budget. I only hope the writing will improve in later episodes.

Watched episode 1, feel no hook to engage me into watching the next.
Dull characters, no story as of yet (kind of important to have a story, or at least give us a taste of one so we know there's something worth it around the corner), the flashbacks were off-putting in every respect. I don't need action (certainly happy there's no hint of a jedi anywhere) but this just plodded along feeling almost aimless.

How long until Mandalorian's next season? Gonna be a longer wait than I thought.

I don't foresee any Force users in this series. Well maybe in season two. Andor runs across either Fulcrum or Pheonix cell during the buildup to the Rebel Alliance. Both are important to the new rebellion, but aside from maybe two events, Andor doesn't have to interact with them at all. But there are two key events that may show up in this series. Both are audio transmissions to spark rebellion. One from Lothal and one from Dantooine.

I probably would have edited into 2 one hour episodes rather than 3 40 minute ones.

Agree. no reason it couldn't be 2 45 minute episodes instead of 3 30 minute ones.

My sole complaint about the show thus far is that the first two episodes felt like they just kind of ended at random moments instead of on solid cliffhangers or plot developments that would have carried our interest forward.

They could have easily rejiggered some scenes to make for a stronger finish to those episodes. With one fewer episode, one less chance to end on an anticlimactic note. .

I think we might see force users but if we do it will be presented in a very grounded kind of way. No fancy back flip fighting or anything like that.

I only watched the first two, hoping to get #3 in tonight.

1. What motivates Cassian Andor? He's looking for his sister, but does he have a job? He owes people money for what?
2. I looove Adria Arjona (Bix). She's smart, works hard, and is a friend of Andor but not his love interest. Then she stops by her boyfriends house but they seemingly don't have sex. Ya know, normal people in normal people relationships.
3. Star Wars, The Corporate Sector:
I don't believe there's anything wrong with throwing in easter eggs, or fanboy stuff into a show, but at it's core it has to be a self-sustained story. I absolutely love Mando (BoBF was a mixed bag, sorry). It's clear to me that the Mandolorian Television Franchise is trying to be a successor to some of the major unresolved plot lines of The Clone Wars and Rebels.

Playing the corporate sector angle, the chief's don't see the deaths of two rent-a-cops as a huge loss. What's most important is company profits and keeping the Empire happy. Inviting the Empire to take a closer look at your shop is inviting them to take more of your profits and add more regulations.
And as great and fantastic as the Volume is for storytelling, nothing beats the real thing. On location, live, with real sets can never be replicated digitally to the same level. Arguably, a combination of the two - using real sets and props and the AR tech for lighting and set extensions seems to offer the best mix, and I hope Mando S3 and Ahsoka take that into account.

My read on that situation was the Empire took all of the adults as slaves for the mines and the flashbacks begin just as the mine is failing with the crashing ship populated with a crew too sick to flee properly.

That said, it is curious how Maarva referred to a Republic ship, and not an Imperial ship, that was about to arrive and would probably wipe out the tribe. Which begs the question why Cassian thinks his sister is alive and off planet.
Yeah as I said above, the flashback scenes had to have happened under the Republic including whatever happened to the adults.

We're clearly missing some key pieces to the puzzle here, and I think it's very deliberately a puzzle; why else have the kids speak an unfamiliar language and choose not to subtitle any one it? They want the audience to be reading context clues. The subtext. No adults, but also no babies; so whatever happened was recent (a few years at most.) Everything the kids have (including their clothes) seems to be salvaged mining equipment and random junk, so wherever they used to live, it's not safe there anymore. They clearly know what a ship is and their feelings on it are mixed; one girl waves as if to call for rescue, while the leader hushes her, so they have reason not to trust people that arrive on ships.
Maava called the dead crew Republic, and yet their uniforms seem to bear a logo almost identical to the Separatist logo; that means they're likely from one of the Commerce Guilds and this is pre-Clone Wars.
Maybe but they kept saying that the Republic would kill the boy. They’re not that ruthless unless it was the very early days of the Empire.
Says who? The Republic produced men like Tarkin LONG before the Clone Wars. The Empire and the kinds of people that made it what it is didn't just pop into existence over night. And not to put too fine a point on it; but the "evil" corporate people that were doing all that nasty crap in the Clone Wars were also part of the Republic too up until Geonosis. That's kinda how civil wars work.
Then she stops by her boyfriends house but they seemingly don't have sex.
I don't know what show you were watching, but they obviously fucked.

I believe I read somewhere that every 3 episodes is an arc.
Might be why they decided on a 3 episode premier instead of the original 2.

That was a great start, with great writing, outstanding performances, and some pretty impressive action scenes.
I thought having the characters in the flashbacks speak another language without any subtitles was an interesting. I was wondering why there were only kids where Kassa/Cassian was, but we did get the reference to the planet being abandoned after a mining accident, so I'm thinking they must have been the children of the miners that were left behind.
I'm curious if we're going to see more of Bix, Maarva, and the other people on Ferrix now that Cassian's left the planet.
From the trailers it looks like Ferrix is going to experience a full Imperial crack down ISB style.
