Spoilers Andor - Season 2

I’ve always taken Leia’s being a galactic senator at such a young age as similar to Britain’s House of Lords in that it’s a hereditary seat. Her parents’ no longer wish the responsibility of the seat, so they’ve told their child it’s her turn to take over.

Naboo “electing” a 14 year old queen was just ludicrous.
Remember the old republic allowed a religious cult to take children and turn them into child soldiers.

One of the good things Palpatine did was get rid of the jedi. They were a immoral and dangrous sect that needed yo be abolished . Albit with less youngling killing.

Alcolyte fan? I admit, I didn’t get much into that series. I’ve never been a fan of ‘the villain is right’ plot lines. If you establish ‘this’ is good and ‘that’ is bad, rewriting that narrative very often causes issues with continuity and established parameters. it never works. Jedi are good. Sith are evil. Period.

I dont think either the jedi or sith are good.

Both have repulsive traits.

Neither the sith or jedi are right.

I haven't gotten to Ep 4-6 yet, but holy hell the Dinner Party in Ep 3....was INSANE.
Dedre and Syril have no concept of human intimacy; and Eedie has no concept of boundaries. (Apparently, Kyle's 'facepalm' on the bed was unscripted!!)

Denise, Kyle and Katheryn really rocked that dysfunctional relationship. I freaking loved it.

Legends explained this as the culmination of a plan to get the Sith into the Chancellorship (which obviously worked). I don't know if Canon has any such explanation

If so, it’s weak. Bad writing. IMHO. Lucas’s creation of this universe was epic and not to take anything away from that, but he had poor (weak) plot lines and plot devices.

That’s true. And in real life, probably reality. But as this story goes, it’s a poor/lazy way to come up with other storylines.

Enjoying the show for the most part. Just missing the parts that are subtitles. I wish everyone would speak English or Spanish instead of a made-up language that has to be translated and read.

I'd call that a highly slanted interpretation of the text.
A slightly less loaded way of putting it, is that the Republic allowed a well established and highly regarded religious order (with a millennia long history of service and compassion to the galaxy at large) to offer the parents of those young children naturally gifted in the force the opportunity of having their child raised and trained to be a peacekeeper and diplomat. To have the best possible education that anyone could ask for, at the most prestigious and legendary institution across a million inhabited worlds, and to follow in the legacy of countless Jedi before them, who's exploits and achievements are literally the stuff of legends. An offer they can of course refuse without consequence.

The Jedi weren't soldiers until they were essentially forced into that role. A state of affairs that lasted all of 3-5 years (depending on who you ask.) What we saw in the prequels wasn't the status quo, it was a death spasm of an institution that had rotted from within, and they didn't even see it.

That was categorically not what that show was saying.

It's not that the Sith were right or good, and the Jedi were wrong and bad. It was saying that the villain isn't always who you think it is, and sometimes there's more than one villain, both at odds with each other, and both convinced they're the ones in the right. The Stranger was a manipulative snake who was adept at twisting words to get people to see things in ways that suited him. Sol was a misguided zealot who twisted his own perceptions to suit his misplaced and selfish sense of attachment. It was the actions of both Koril and Sol that caused all of that trauma; The Stranger was just there to exploit it.

As for that last point: if the Sith are always the only ones in the wrong and Jedi are always the ones in the right, then the whole story of Star Wars simply doesn't happen, for what is the story of Anakin Skywalker but that of a Jedi that went bad? Or if you want to get into the deeper lore; the Sith Order itself was founded be a breakaway Jedi sect, thousands of years back. Don't confuse the Jedi ideal with the Jedi reality. People are people. They are fallible and prone to stumble, but there's always hope of redemption. That's always been at the core of the entire saga.

That would be boring. This makes the world feel more real.

Sam Witwer was the robotic voice speaking into Cassian’s ear when getting the briefing for the Ghorman mission

Mostly, I agree. But I’m used to reading subtitles. I’ve liked many foreign movies over the years. And now that I’m old, I read subtitles just to “hear” the sound track.

But, for a show like this, or the newer Star Trek where they’re speaking Klingon …. I find it annoying if I just want to relax and not have to think, so I turn on something like Star Wars or Star Trek, to have to read subtitles to follow the story.

I like that they managed to make the old EU canon of the Ghorman massacre work in the new canon. But I wonder how bad it will actually be since this is the event that starts the war.

Categorically? I think you’re putting too much energy into entertainment.

I appreciate your take on the story though. But, your adamant refusal to accept another person’s interpretation is very off putting.

Completly disagree.

I love the fact they are fleshing out and creating unique cultures within the starwars universe.

And different languages has always been apart of star wars. We got huttese in the original trilogy.

How the Ghorman massacre will actually start--

Syril: But you heard what he called Major Partagaz!

Dedra: Forget it. It's not worth fighting for. We're big enough to take a few insults.

Carro Rylanz: Of course, I'd say that Major Partagaz deserves his bureau. And we like the Emperor. We, we really do! That haggard, old geezer is built like a garbageman. Half the quadrant knows it; that's why they're learning to speak Ghormanese!

Syril: Dedra!

Dedra: Don't you think you should... rephrase that?

Carro: You're right. I should. I didn't mean to say that the Emperor should be hauling garbage. I meant to say that he should be hauled away AS garbage!

[Carro Rylanz laughs. Dedra stands up, punches him, and a brawl ensues with stormtroopers rushing in firing at all the Ghor]

Either that was from something written prior to AOTC's line saying Padme wasn't the youngest Queen, or it ignored it. As far as Disney canon goes, they tend with the idea that Naboo typically elects teenage Queens with the record for oldest Queen being something like twenty-one.

Darth Vader: "Who threw the first punch?"
