Because the movie is better than Rebels and it is actually the first thing in the entire franchise, the ne plus ultra of all Star Wars, the origin point, the foundation, the thing that from which everything else was birthed. Not just the 15th random, kid-targeted spinoff.

Do you seriously not understand the distinction?

Do you understand that there could be an audience that only KNOWS the franchise due to the prequels and the cartoons?

I know it's hard to accept for us old folk/nerds, but I had to explain to a Ph.D student a few years ago that Star Trek existed before the 2009 NuTrek films...

100% this. There are people who I speak to who only know things that they discovered through Netflix. A guy I spoke to recently told me how amazing he thought Blade Runner 2049 was and was surprised when I told him that there is another Blade Runner movie. For some people Rogue One was their first Star Wars movie.

Almost like different people have different experiences... :wtf:

One of Saw's partisans, according to the visual guide, is from Ghorman. Would be funny if they got that background actor back for Andor S2

^ the blurb: 'In anticipation of Season 2 of Andor, join Creator & Executive Producer Tony Gilroy live as he takes us behind-the-scenes of the critically-acclaimed first season. Tony will be joined by Adria Arjona, Genevieve O’Reilly and Duncan Pow for live questions, Season 1 reflections and surprises you won’t want to miss. With special appearances by some of your favorite creators including @jenmarkham, @StarWarsExplained, and @StruggleNation.'

Tony Gilroy gives some really great insights into this (season one) - well worth a watch for anyone interested in how quality tv is put together. This certainly didn't feel like a 71 minute video - it just flew by.

My point had nothing to do with audiences. My point was that the creative forces behind "Andor", the most sophisticated, complex and adult of all SW content to date, shouldn't be beholden to and taking its narrative cues from a kid-targeted cartoon that came out years ago and is largely forgotten except by the SW faithful.

"Largely forgotten except by the Star Wars faithful"? You mean the series that Ahsoka is continuing off of? The series whose finale is being screened at Star Wars Tokyo this year?

As for "kid targeted"? Welcome to Star Wars. With the exception of Andor, ALL of Star Wars is kid targeted and always has been. Just ask George Lucas. Besides, Tony Gilroy has already stated that he is well aware of the established canon, respects it, and will adhere to it.
