Like I said in its thread, not a surprise. It had a lot of issues, least of all, really bad timing and unnecessary focus on political strife (which was barely in the comic).

I've only seen the ads, but this show strikes me more as "Land Of The -" rather than just "Lost".
The Target audience shouldn't know what Land of the Lost is.
Marley Shelton's obsession with Land of the Lost in Bubble Boy was irregular and atemporal.
Even with the early 90s remake, or the 2009 movie with Will Farrel puts the franchise beyond the limited recall of the monkeys buying soap and changing their providers because of traditional broadcast advertising.

Obviously Sawyer was the coolest, but cool is actually a shitty thing to be in the real world.

(Earning thousands of dollars a week to stand there and look like you're still dying of Cholera is hardly down and out, but there's an expectation of leading man potential from this bloke, even with his atypical frame, that he is not living up to.)

Showtime's Joan River "bio-series", The Comeback Girl, has been cancelled before it even got going. Evidently no one secured the rights to River's life from Melissa Rivers.
Interesting... That would seem to be kind of a Step #1 no-brainer to acquire before beginning a project, one would think.

I notice this year has not been kind to dark and depressing stuff. Except for Squid Game.
Probably because these past couple of years have been quite dark and depressing.
But, why does everyone love Squid Game?
Don't know. Haven't seen it myself (and don't plan to) but from what I have seen of it, it looks like the stupid brainless kind of "entertainment" that draws large crowds on Netflix (IMO), showing new and innovative ways of killing desperate people. Only in Korean. And drawn out across 9 episodes. 
My wife and I watched this, and it's rrally good. It's more than just different ways to kill people.
All the people there are in major debt, needing money to help family members with surgery/disease, needing money to bring family from North Korea, etc.
As it progresses, there's a lot of ethical questions on whether to continue or not, because if the people leave, each dead person will get a certain amount for their family, but the winner wins the whole prize.
There are a lot of sad scenes, and while some of the contestants are depraved and evil, many are sympathetic... like one who is trying to bring her mother from North Korea and reunite with her younger brother who is in a shelter at that time.
There's even one who is in it because they are dying and just want a chance to win so their family is set... they are dead anyway, so taking the chance to be less of a burden and actually set their family up for life is preferable than just slowly whittling away.

The prequel/spinoff series The 100: Second Dawn has been ended while in the planning stages.
Squid Game is popular because there's a really likeable lead and people really are desperate to do whatever it is to get out of debt. It's very relevant.
Probably a good thing since The 100 went off the rails stupid in its last couple of seasons.
I lost interest in the second season. I only stuck around for the first because I was enjoying the scenes on the station.
