And the Next Cancelled Show is...

I use an app called "Next Episode" to keep track of shows my wife and I are interested in and I got a notification that Big Little Lies is not coming back for a 3rd season. I did a quick google search but didn't come up with any kind of official announcement. Does anyone know what's going on? I don't watch it, but I think my wife will be quite disappointed.

I use that app to keep track of new/old episodes, but I'm not sure it's the best place for cancellation news. The Futon Critic is usually a good source for show statuses, and that website just says Big Little Lies has yet to be renewed.

The Hollywood Reporter did a profile on Reese Witherspoon back in December, and they mention that she'd like to do a third season:
Big Little Lies, a study of female friendship disguised as a soapy crime saga, arrived at an ideal moment and delivered in all the ways she needed it to: ratings, praise and a considerable Emmy haul, including a best limited series win. Witherspoon then willed a second, unplanned season into existence, upping the ante by helping enlist Oscar winner Meryl Streep for the already star-studded ensemble of Nicole Kidman, Laura Dem, Zoe Kravitz and Shailene Woodley. And now, Witherspoon... seems keen on a third, assuming they can come up with an idea. "We all love each other," she says, "and we love those characters."

Hardball is ending. The last episode is on right now. Chris Matthews is 'retiring', he was handed his ass not because he compared a Jewish man to the Nazis taking France, but because of sexual harassment claims.

I think the sexual stuff was just a excuse. I think they see Bernie maybe becoming President and they don't want their access tainted by having one of their lead anchors being someone who basically once called him a Nazi. The fact that he would get sexual harassment claims so soon after the Nazi stuff is pretty suspect.

Bernie will never get the nomination and I say this as someone who has a shirt of him riding a unicorn.

However I think it just was too much. He said several awful things about Bernie and they pretty much ignored it as you get fired at MSNBC for covering him. But it all just started to pile up too much and Chris just had to go.

Just amazing after decades of work you don't even make it to Super Tuesday.

I'm surprised it took Chris this long to put his foot so deep in his mouth that it would come out his ass. The man's an institution, but I could only take him in five minute segments because after a while the whole "ask a question and then talk over their answer" schitck got annoying.

So who's the most likely candidate to replace Matthews in the 7 PM time slot, and why is it Steve Kornacki?

I would like to see Joshua Johnson take over... he was amazing as the host of 1A on NPR

It's time to bring in a legend to replace him and that is Dan Rather. I know he is up their in age but he is a artifact from a time when journalists were really still journalists.

I miss him on 1A, and didn't realize he had left NPR for MSNBC. I wouldn't be surprised to see him as one of the various people who gets floated through the 7 PM slot while the channel decides what to do next.

I don't think he's doing so great. He very briefly had a show on TYT (YouTube Channel) and then didn't, Maybe they just couldn't pay him anymore.

He made an honest mistake and was fired when Bryan Williams lied all the damn time and got rehired.

SyFy sort of gave Haven a sixth season. What they did was double the order for the fifth season. Twice as many episodes, but don't have to give your regulars a raise because they're still under the original contract. Not breaking the rules, but breaking the spirit of the rules to pinch pennies.
