And the Next Cancelled Show is...

I didn't say that it stayed good.

Season two is more excellent because of how well season one sucked.

Season three is more depressing because of how much season 2 rocked.

Haven't you ever built a house of cards, son?

Cool. Loved season 1 and hopefully Season 2 is just as good. I wonder if it will be edgier now that it knows it's on Netflix.

Agreed.

That show is just lovely. She is so cute I can hardly stand it.

More Pinot Noir, anyone?

;)

I read an interview where Tina Fey said she wasn't going to change it up too much. I think she said that because she feels it would kind of take away from the charm of the show.

That's great to hear. There are already too many edgy shows on TV or shows where you hear constant swearing. Unbreakable gives me constant joy, and I don't want the show to change (or become darker) because it's on Netflix. It wouldn't be the same show.

I never understood TV logic that says if you have a ton of swearing in a show it will become that much edgier and cooler.

I think it's a freedom thing. You're not confined to limitations so you can do whatever you want. Personally, I could do with a little less swearing on TV. Let's expand the vocabulary. Might make people smarter too.

So Netflix renewed House of Cards even though the creator is leaving after season 4. Season 4 should have been the last being.... 52 episodes... 52 cards in a deck. Also season 3 wasn't good.

And Netflix has officially announced Gilmore Girls: Seasons will start shooting on Tuesday!!!

Heh. The Journal of Language Sciences disagrees.
Exciting new research recently published in the journal Language Sciences confirms what f-bomb droppers have always known in their hearts: Swearing isn't a mental crutch--it's a sign of verbal intelligence.

I personally don't mind swearing in a show if it fits the characters. Deadwood, for instance, is a great example. The place was famous of its foul-mouthed, violent populace, so the writers used modern swear words (old-timey cursing would should ridiculous to us) to get it across. Everything about them was violent: how they lived, how they spoke, etc. But there are times when it's blatantly put in shows just to shock: "Oh, look! We're swearing!" That's when it just feels like little children trying to get attention, and that's asinine. But if it feels organic to the characters, the time and place, I have no problem with it at all.

Interesting article. I swear sometimes (Don't we all), but I resent being called unintelligent because I don't do it all the time, which is seemed like the article was intimating.

I don't mind swearing in shows. It's when it feels like they're doing it just because it's cool and swear every other word that's a bit of a turn off.

^It can be; as I said, I think it depends on the characters and setting involved.

Back to the topic: what are the odds of Sleepy Hollow making it to Season 4?

Not a show, but that's exactly how I felt about Kinsmen: The Secret Service. I wanted very much to like it, but the movie came across as a cheap hollow movie out for some shock value with its strong over-the-top violence. I felt like it could have been a good spy spoof but it felt too locked into its shock factor, ie like the church scene for example. So, in the end I felt like it lost its thread and felt so very disappointed.

The Cubs will win the World Series is more likely than seeing Sleepy Hollow return this / next fall.

Yeah, it doesn't look good, but the first episode on Fridays will tell the tale. If it maintains its numbers on Friday nights (or in the unlikely event it gets higher numbers), then it will prove to Fox it's a solid draw -- wherever they plug it -- with a loyal audience.

That sort of thing is valuable in the current TV landscape.

Haven't seen the U.S version of House Of Cards yet - how far have they followed the U.K version? Though if they are going for season 4 then I guess they didn't follow it too closely.
