But I'm wondering if there really are ghosts, or if they're all slowly being poisoned by mercury.

I keep thinking that the Polonious character is a sex animal because there's this half naked woman, half his age (30-something) is laying around his flat, wrapping her legs around the camera usually... But no, it's actually the "ghost" of his dead wife... Or a delusional fantasy coping fetish because he's going banana pants.

‘Girls’ To End After Season 6 On HBO

The end is near for HBO’s Girls. The Lena Dunham comedy will wrap its run after getting one more renewal for a sixth and final season to air in 2017. I hear the decision was made virtually unanimously, with HBO brass and the series producers agreeing that was the right lifespan for the series, which became an instant pop culture staple and made creator/star Dunham a household name. The end date, set as Girls is about to air its fifth season, reflects Dunham’s view that Girls should run for six seasons, which she has shared publicly a number of times.

“Never say never, but that is the way that we’re thinking about it right now, and we’re starting to think about sort of how to wrap up the storylines of these particular young women,” Dunham said in a September interview on Z100’s “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.” “I started working on this show when I was 23, and now I’m going to be 30 so it kind of feels right that this show kind of sandwiched my 20s and then I go off into the world.”

Executive produced by Judd Apatow, Girls follows a close group of twenty-somethings living in New York City. The show’s premise and major aspects of the main character were drawn from Dunham’s own life. Dunham plays Hannah Helene Horvath, an aspiring writer living in Greenpoint, Brooklyn who struggles to support herself and find a direction in her life. The series, which debuted on HBO on April 5, 2012, was never a big ratings draw but has had a major cultural impact. Season 5 premieres on February 21.

‘Rizzoli & Isles’ To End After 7 Seasons

TNT flagship drama Rizzoli & Isles will end its run with the upcoming 13-episode seventh season, the network’s president Kevin Reilly said at TCA today.

“We felt it was time,” he said. “Every felt good about it.”

Rizzoli & Isles, toplined by Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander, launched as part of TNT’s previous strategy that focused on crime procedurals to complement the network’s well performing off-network acquisitions like Law & Order. It was a breakout hit and remains a top performer for the network. Overall, the sixth season of Rizzoli & Isles is reaching an average of 11.1 million viewers per episode across TNT’s on-demand, digital and mobile platforms.

Sad news, but not surprising. Seven years is a very good run. Hopefully, they will have the time to end on a good, strong note.

I don't read the books, and I still know that this is a bad idea.

I disagree. I'm of the firm belief that GRRM needs an editor. He's built a great world but Books 4 and 5 included lots of meandering and wandering without much resolution. Part of the reason that the show was able to condense their plot down to about 2.5 seasons. I...may even like the show better.

What I meant is that there is a finite end to the books in the not too distant future.

The end.

The TV show however, if it keeps getting renewed, will be twice as long as the books, and then four times as long as the books, and then 10 times as long as the books.

The TV series should follow the books, and not be allowed to wander off as fanfiction seeking legitimization, talking about the years and years of happenings after the final book that happens to the children and grandchildren of the beloved characters from season one.

I hear what you're saying now. But I seriously doubt they're going to go off into fanfiction territory - it's HBO pushing for more seasons, not the showrunners. And GRRM probably has enough control to kill any spin-off or sequel ideas he doesn't like.

No kidding. I had such a hard time getting into "A Dance With Dragons" that I finally just downloaded the audio book and I now listen to it on my walk to and from work. There are just huge sections that contain information which is completely irrelevant to the plot. I like a writer to paint a picture of what's going on around their characters, but he just takes it to the next level.
