News And the Next Animated Reconstruction is...

That's probably the best retcon I've seen to deal with UNIT dating.

There was also a short story The Enfolded Time which put it down to the Doctor's frequent visits to Earth during that period in a faulty TARDIS causing time to fold in on itself if I remember correctly. Basically it meant 20+ years fit into 10 and would therefore explain away the inconsistences.

Damn.

Probably didn't help that animation hasn't been the best of late and that probably hurt the sales (not the sales were making much of a difference in the first place...).

I was still hoping for Marco Polo...

That’s disappointing but I was never the biggest fan of their animation. Looked very amateurish.

Dang, that's disappointing . . . if true. That's being report by the Daily Mirror, and I don't know how accurate they've been with Who stuff.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the animations. Yeah, I know they haven't used the best animation. But I was never able to get into the reconstructions. And it's not like they were animating replacements for the latest blockbuster movies with the top special effects. We're talking about an old, low budget show. The animations really were on par with the show. When I watch these animations, it feels like the real show. YMMV.

It's particularly a shame because it seemed like the entire range was going to be reconstructed. As the article points out, the first four seasons only need one reconstruction each to be complete! That puts the kibosh on complete sets for those seasons. Ugh!

Maybe some other funding source will step up?

So close. We were so close. Two stories to finish 2/3rds of the Hartnell era. Four stories to finish the entire Troughton era. :wah:

Unless Big Finish is able to step up, or they allow crowdfunding, I imagine the Blu-Ray Collection people are going to have to either strike a deal with Loose Cannon or give up on the black-and-white seasons altogether.

Honestly, I'm surprised we got as many animations as we did.

I just watched the Evil of the Daleks DVD set, and I kind of thought they were using the Loose Cannon telesnap reconstruction on Disc 3, since it used CGI sequences in the same places I think I remember seeing them in the reconstruction online a few years ago.

Meh, I seem to recall they've said before "there will be no more animated reconstructions." I'm sure we'll get more at some point. Might be a few years, but it'll happen.

It's a shame but I doubt it will be forever. The animated episodes made me feel very appreciative of older who.

I'm hoping you're right. But a delay is disappointing, nonetheless.
