And so begins another NaNo ...

Maestro

Vice Admiral
Admiral
With the clock striking midnight, it's like the firing of the starter's pistol on another National Novel Writing Month. Anyone else participating in this annual November madness?

Anyone talking advantage of the Daylight Saving Time change over to get more words in?

Tell us about your stories ... much fleshed out yet? Characters? Plots?

Let's hear about it!

I am! Got 3,000 words so far, and hoping for another 2,000 today. I have a lot of prompts, a lot of characters, and I'm hoping for the best. I'm also aiming for 65,000 words this year after getting 61.2k last year.

You can't be serious about this!?!:wtf:

That's too much for me to work all this! Won't your hands be so tired to aiming for 65,000 words this year?

Totally serious. :D Like I said, I managed 61k last year so an extra 4k doesn't seem too much more. There are people who shoot for 100k, 200k, maybe even more!

65000 words is a bit over 2000 words a day. It's really not that much. I "could" write that much if I really, really had a need to!

I'd participate but I am already heading up a group writing project and typesetting my book right now. :(

Same. It's not really that tough if your thoughts are flowing on to the page well.

And personally, my job involves writing and editing on a regular basis, so trying to squeeze in a novel in my spare time would be a bit too much. Good luck to those who are participating, though!

Nothing more that I wish you the best of luck, you sounds so serious to do this, but won't your thoughts to flowing all together on the page while you're writing? Not that I'm telling you what to do, but you will need to organize your thoughts more.

Are you planning on to write over 500k, can you do it?

Over 500k in a month is too mad for me, especially with having a job. If I get to 65k that'll be brilliant.

I was hoping to come up with an off-the-wall idea that would allow me to write just off the top of my head. Nothing yet, although it could still happen.

My NaNo attempt from last year is still unfinished. :rommie:

I've hit my 5,000 words for day one. I am very pleased. :techman: I'm going to try and get as much writing done as I can on days off, so I'll likely have several 4,000 or 5,000 word days to make up for work days where I might only get in 2,000 words.

Oh dear, I'm getting competitive with my last year's self already.

You should be writer yourself to write such good books! My, you're writing so fast like horse!

Agh, don't mention it to me. I'm starting it tomorrow with my students, and said I'd start on my own today... never mind all my marking, typing, planning, etc. that I need to do... it seemed like such a good idea.

I need to start before I go to bed. My problem is that I'm always really hungover on November 1st from my Halloween celebrations, so I always get a late start.

I began at Midnight CDT last night, and had my 1700 word quota for the day by 2:00 am CST. So, I went to bed. I've been writing this afternoon, and I've crossed the 6000 total words mark.

For something I've always meant to participate in, and the furthest I ever got was a false start last year, I'm pretty pleased. I even have a full story idea, plot, setting, and everything. And the worst part is that my sister-in-law gave me the idea by getting a new job and relocating!

Never really tried it, but one year I will try to take part in Movember. But this year, I'll support some people, who decide on growing mustaches.

Giving it a dig. Wrote nearly 4,000 words on the first day. Glad it started on the weekend so I could get ahead of the curve immediately.

I'm cheating a bit and finishing the book I started last year. I struggled with my time last year and wound up with only 21k. I was up at 3:30 this morning (don't ask), so I was at the computer by 4 am typing away. I had 1800 words before hubby came looking for coffee. My personal goal is 2500 words per day every day except Wednesdays and Thanksgiving Day. I tried writing this afternoon, but the kids were being normal and I was too tired to block out their noise. After I put them to bed, I wrote to 2791, which was the end of the scene I was working on.

I'm going to do it this year. I keep meaning to, but I always get too busy. I'm not off to a great start, though. I have about 200 words. There's always tomorrow.
