When I got my BA in Geography in 1972 I might have done okay. Not having used it beyond watching the news...not even going to try. can't spell and typing under time pressure...not a good deal.
couldn't get it to take goddamn Bosnia no matter how i spelled it.
I'm not even going to attempt this. I would do absolutely horrible, especially since I've never taken a geography class in my life.

That's because Bosnia is actually known as Bosnia and Herzegovina and although it is sometimes called Bosnia, it has been recognised mainly as Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially following the end of Yugoslavia and the attainment of independence from the Soviet Union.
I'll just correct you on the fact that Yugoslavia was never a part of the Soviet Union (if that's what you meant), in fact it wasn't even a member of the Warsaw pact, actually, it wasn't even completely a member of the eastern bloc, it was a founder of the Non-Aligned Movement, and it didn't have a completely communist economy like the rest of the eastern bloc.
You're right on the Bosnia part, though.Bosnia and Herzegovina respectively are two geographical regions with not fully defined mutual borders, Herzegovina being the smaller southern part of BaH, and Bosnia the rest, but Bosnia is used as a shorthand for both the geographical region and the state quite often, even by people from the region.
