Hey,
Over at io9, there was some article about how Enterprise is the most pointless Sci Fi spinoff ever, and I kinda got into a heated debate about it in the comments - that aside, It got me thinking about how many episodes do I actually like from the trek shows?
Considering I was defending Enterprise, I went and compared the entire run of Enterprise against the first 4 series of all the other Trek spinoffs. For me, I defined an episode I "like" as one that someone could put on right now and i'd sit down and watch it without question.
I was surprised by my own results:
TNG -8
DS9 - 24
Voy-22
Enterprise - 32
Now, this is by no means a scientific survey - by my own admission I havent seen the early seasons of TNG and Voyager in quite some time, and if were to rewatch them in their entirety again no doubt would their numbers increase.
And then this got me wondering, If everyone went and did the same thing, would the results share a pattern?
I went here http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Portal:Star_Trek and used the episode guides of all the shows as a list.
The logical answer to this is most definitely a No, tastes vary and no doubt there will be many different answers, however, I do feel that by going back and refreshing your minds about just how many....bad episodes there are, you'll be surprised about how much Star Trek you actually love......and how much you'd rather forget.
