An Alternate Enterprise Aesthetic

Ora Tzo

So I was playing around with mimicing another artist's style and decided to flesh out an idea I had for a more space shuttlely NX-Enterprise which i felt might better fit as an earlier iteration of the TOS aesthetic.

The base was created with Blender using it's workbench renderer to get a flat shaded model and then photoshopped over.
At least now i've got an idea for what details to model.

And a link to the artist i was inspired by.

Interesting concept. The orbiter's tiles were colored as they were for heat protection. The black tiles were manufactured to withstand much higher heat than the white ones, and thus they followed all leading surfaces for a re-entry configuration.

My question to you would be: What purpose do the darkened surfaces on your design serve? A different type of armor? Something to do with warp dynamics? Pure aesthetics? I like this idea, but try to find a reason for the dual-coloration. Follow natural lines on the shape, not the mesh topology; maybe framing window ports or around the saucer perimeter.

What I would love to see is each window with an ISS type cupola shutter-door, shades of this guy

Having black RCC on a saucer makes sense--on the underbelly.

If it were me--I'd make the DY-class ship ret-conned into Figure 12 from here:

I would say the saucer contained Khan's biolation units

It would have the spinning disk "antigravity" of Ning Li and larry Smally in addition to its aerodynamic shell. Shades of BTE Dan

The saucer would remain attached to the External tank--that might have a RORSAT dish

Take a look at KB Arsenal's Electronic warfare dish-sat here:

No wonder the Connie secondary hull had those concentric circles around the base of the main dish--shielding!

We'd have to give up tei classic DY look

http://www.projectrho.com/SSC/index.html Say it was an Alpha Centari built design--and have the ringship enterprise the eymorg ionship: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Eymorg_starship

But the Shuttle-C launched saucer craft? I can see that as having launched in '96, and it looks like a small Enterprise--so try that.
