AMERICAN IDOL thought..

By the way, I am loving my new season of AMERICAN IDOL. And although I am not gay, I have to give the Adam his due..the dude rocked last night. Danny was great, as was Alexis and Allison.

But the dude who SHOULD have been brought back was the black dude who sang some song called Delliah. I have never heard that song, and have since heard it, and his was far better than the original performance. I just don't care for Anoop. The dudes name was Junot Joiner. And I wish he had been given another shot...

I just think they should call Adam the winner and just end the season already. He is leagues above everyone else this season and certainly looks the part.

Adam? No, no no no no. He's average. He's not great.

Aside from the whole drama with his wife, I think Danny Gokey's got a good shot.
I also like Lil' Rounds. She's got great potential, but Adam? No. He's definitely very average.

By the way guys, remember this very important lesson: Michael Jackson is untouchable...until Michael Jackson week 2 weeks later. ;)

You know whom I found weird? The lady who looked like Joan Rivers and danced like Tina Turner and performed "Dirty Diana." :wtf:

Oh, to have lived a life void of The Plain White Tee's. What a happy world. :)

:(

I should start calling them by nicknames.

The "Robert Downey Jr." Lookalike

The Gay Emo Guy/a.k.a. "Joe Jonas" Lookalike

The Justin Timberlake Wannabe

On a side note, Kris Allen is a hottie.

Yeah, I can't stand her or Megan. Ugh.

Adam is AWESOME and so is Danny.

Were me and my hubby the only ones who caught it when Simon was criticizing Lil's attire and he said, "Just give me 5 minutes with her"? Paula said, "That's all it takes". It was kind of in the background and I don't know who, if anyone else heard it. We were laughing our asses off though. She said that like she knows from experience. :shifty:

Its too trend to say that. When I hear that it really makes me cringe because you can tell most of the hype he is getting is because he might be the first openly gay person on that show while on that show. So he's seen as the 'first gay American Idol' and that means he should simply because of that (or the first Blind American Idol in scott's case)

To hell with the elite media forcing us to think either one of them are all that. I found Adam to be a one trick pony. So far he has been doing the same gig with different songs..enough. Tone down the "elton John/George Michael/Prince antics and show us more than some purple headed grunge gay dude who can scream the last lines of song and call it great..which he has done now THREE times.

Danny is my pick so far. The dude has done rock, ballads and R/B. Adam is still stuck in DAVID BOWIE mode..At this rate he MIGHT be Elton John's opening act..

And although I am not gay
\
Here's a hint, never say that again.

Because it's either true and it doesn't matter, or in EVERY case I know of it isn't true and doesn't matter.

Anyways I agree, he rocks.

He can rock...but as BO BICE found out, you can't just ROCK and win..David Cook was able to sing a good ballad (The Music of the Night) and rock out (Billy Jean) and kick ass doing so...

I am not saying I don't like the guy, he does what he does good. He just needs to show he can do something more. Brook was the sameway last year, but in the opposite direction. She could sing CARLY SIMON songs real good, or songs in a CARLY SIMON way..but that was the extent of her ability.

As for you warning? That line 'not to say something because (fill in the blank) is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO overdone. I think in most cases it does work. If I say "You know, I may not be gay, but I think I understand where George Takei is coming from and the struggle to get same sex marriages passed.." I think it does have a desired effect. And when I saw Robert Deniro say pretty much that same thing a year ago, when he was being interviewd by Letterman I think, I think it helps other in his age bracket more acceptable to the new ways of the world...

So..sorry..I could not disagree more.

Just keep bringing back the insanely beautiful Meghan each week and I'll be happy. Quirky and beautiful is a great combination.

Is it just me or is Paula more hammered than usual?
She varies so much with her mood....and sobriety that it's hard to tell.

Oh, I also really, really like that Kris Allen. He's got a great voice, plays an instrument (always a plus with me) and he's kind of hot.

Why do you need to qualify your sexuality and why would it matter if Adam's gay? His being gay is the least interesting thing about him. Why not say, "And although I've never been in the cast of Wicked..." or "And although I've never sang on a TV show with 25 million viewers..." or "And although I've never had 30 Seconds To Mars hair..."

I'm not giving you shit, I'm truly curious why some people need to label people by immediately saying "I'm not gay but..." which I find slightly homophobic and highly unnecessary.

I don't think RobertScorpio meant any harm when he said, "I'm not gay, but ..." He was merely stating the obvious (about Adam) while asserting his own sexual orientation. A lot of straight guys sometimes have a tendency to distance themselves from the opposite end and feel the need to say what they are or they're not.

In any case, homo- or heterosexuality isn't really an issue here ...

A lot of times when I vote in the Genre Babe of the Week thread I'll say, "Straight girl thumbs up" but it's only for people who may not know me to understand where I'm coming from. I'm not saying I would want to do that particular babe of the week, I'm just saying that I can ultimately appreciate her beauty and/or sexiness.

And my point, and I think Barbados Slim's is that it doesn't matter! You can't like a singer because he's gay or a guy? Why even bring it up at all unless you are questioning your orientation and have to go out of your way to make sure everyone knows your straight.

Sexual orientation is a joke anyways, but that's for a different topic.

Right, that's what I'm saying. It'd be like me saying "I'm not gay but I love Neil Patrick Harris on How I Met Your Mother!"

I'm not sure why there's still a need to advertise your sexual orientation if that's not the topic. It's almost like anticipating someone to ridicule you for being gay if you admit to liking a gay person on a professional level. I guess I'm sheltered because I live in LA so I'm just wondering if it's still like the 80s out there with gay topics?

Well, I imagine some straight guys don't feel comfortable being ridiculed (even in a joking manner) about being gay, or they feel threatened when someone starts throwing labels at them. We also have to realize that some straight guys are less open-minded or accepting than others when it comes to dealing with homosexuality, though I'm not saying that's the case with Scorpio. Of course, any straight guy who's secure in his own masculinity wouldn't give a rat's ass about what others might think or say about him.

Did you forget the top 3 round that season. Bo Bice OWNED that round....had that been the finale, he would have been the winner.

But notice in the finale....a biiiig drop in quality for him.

It's happened time and again...i think his name was Anton Robinson, did an AMAZING original version of "It's a Wondeful World", but then faded out...there are other example, but i'm too tired to remember.

I think there are SEVERAL god people, so it will be great to see what trajectory they go.

I hope they have an ethnic night soon...Anoop can sing "Jai Ho", and be renamed "Anoop-Dog Millionaire". Seriously...i think Anoop has potential, he just needs to pick the right song and give it his all.

it would be nice for an Asian (or Hispanic) to finally win Idol. It's alternated between black & white over the years (Yes, Jordan is mixed, like my daughter, but i think it'd be OK in this case...like Pres. Obama)
