AMERICAN IDOL thought..

It would be nice for an Asian (or Hispanic) to finally win Idol. It's alternated between black & white over the years (Yes, Jordan is mixed, like my daughter, but i think it'd be OK in this case...like Pres. Obama)

Does it really matter if the winner is Black/White/Hispanic/Asian/Jewish/Atheist/Muslim/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender/Diabetic/Autistic/Paraplegic?

I think people tend to focus too much on one aspect of an individual that has absolutely no bearing on the overall competition. What should matter, above all, is TALENT.

Well, I imagine some straight guys don't feel comfortable being ridiculed (even in a joking manner) about being gay, or they feel threatened when someone starts throwing labels at them. We also have to realize that some straight guys are less open-minded or accepting than others when it comes to dealing with homosexuality, though I'm not saying that's the case with Scorpio. Of course, any straight guy who's secure in his own masculinity wouldn't give a rat's ass about what others might think or say about him.

Why should every straight man give a fuck what every other straight man thinks? This is why the world is so fucked up, no one worries about themselves, but instead worries about everyone else and what everyone else might think.

Generally, I'd say everyone gives too much of a damn about what everyone else thinks. I'd say it's a rather difficult obstacle of human nature.

Anywho.

Adam Lambert can actually sing well, it's just a unfortunate that he seems to have been assembled from the spare parts of Zac Efron and the Jonas Brothers. He's just kind of a turn-off for me personally.

Danny Gokey is annoying and the Seth Rogen of this competition.

For that matter, it's not that interesting or sympathetic of a group for me this season. The only other person who I think is good and rather likable is Lil Rounds.

Does anyone else feel annoyed that they're still doing the horrible staged musical bits at the beginning of the shows? I feel bad for Scott MacIntyre. I can't believe that it doesn't make him uncomfortable.

This year's Top 12+ contestants aren't as charismatic as last year's (and not as controversial, like David Hernandez, the male stripper). I can see three or four performers who have strong vocals, but the rest of them are just mediocre. I don't know ... Maybe I haven't quite warmed up to this season yet.

I actually liked Hernandez though he felt rather like a cardboard cutout. I hated Noriega, though he was at least amusing.

This season's contests need to each do something to distinguish themselves more. It could be as simple as showcasing their individuality better.

My favorites are Alexis Grace, who's performance reminded me of a good Christina Aguilera show, and Matt Giraud, because he's current and ballsy and rocks the piano. I'd rather see him try and fuck up Viva La Vida than to see someone asswipe like Gokey singing Mariah Carey's "Hero" boringly.

Ah, I forgot both of them. (Generally the problem this season.) Both Grace and Giraud would be fine Idols.

I didn't like Danny Noriega, and he wasn't part of the Top 12 anyway. D. Hernandez was just okay, and his being voted off early was a reflection of his performance style. What amazed me was how Amanda Overmyer got included in the Top 12. Totally hideous voice!

Overmeyer thought she was the reincarnation Janis Joplin, and so did a lot of Americans. It's as simple as that.

Anyone can screech and sing in gibberish (at least Janis Joplin was coherent), but that doesn't mean they end up being on the Top 12 of American Idol.

Well, Adam can sing average. His vocal skill is nothing notable. However, he could easily cover that by having a charismatic personality. He doesn't, and I think it hurts him in some ways.

Generally agreed. My opinion of singing (I cannot) is rather skewed since from what I've observed there is a difference between training and real range and talent. While I'd agree that Adam sings average, I also think he sings better than most people on the show (which doesn't say a lot) but also he has A LOT of previous experience doing so, and that might be the difference.

You're spot on about his personality, though. I can't believe I'm saying something good about him. Douchebag. "Look how cool I am!" Ugh. :rommie:

Every time he flicks that stupid hair I feel like slapping him.

Agreed. I think with her it was the overall image/voice package, not so much that she was anywhere as talented as Janis was.

Oh, you mean relatively compared to the "talent" on the show. Well in that case, yeah, I agree.

Oh me too. I can't stand drama queens, and he's very good at being one.

We reach, then.

He's also good at being an attention whore. And a self-important ass. And he wears too much makeup.

Give me a while, I'll think of some more.

Let's see, he tries to turn every song into a broadway production, he instigates arguments and then whines when people start getting carried away with it.

J.

Exactly! :rommie:

I also hated that whiny guy with the lower lip piercings that didn't make the top 12. I felt bad for him, but sympathy does not preclude me from hating someone.

Seriously, they should jsut call Adam the winner

His performance tonight was increadible, very unique, Randy was right he sounds like if NIN did country, I got a NIN vibe from him, I like his style, he's got a great voice

But it wasn't country. Hell, I could take a country song and make it pop rock. The idea is to stretch your chops and try something different. If every genre you do sounds the same, you're failing. Adam is highly overrated, in my opinion.

J.

See, I find the fact he could take a country song and make it sound like somethingn else as what is important for an artist to be able to do, he took one genre, and made it another, IMO improving upon it, he has natural talent

Also, I'm not gay, but Adam should wear those pants ALL the time.

This blonde hair bimbo needs to be gone NOW! However she will be safe because she made her boobs look as big as possible. It was a train wreck, NOT a country song at all.
