AMERICA: The Story of Us

Anybody here watching? I think it's a fascinating series. In fact, I'm such a fan of the History Channel, I ordered the DVDs before the first episode aired (I'll get the set in July).

I watched the first episode, and it was so hilariously inaccurate, in terms of facts, that I honestly can't bring myself to devote time to more of it. I expect some whitewashing here and there from a cable series about American history, but I really didn't expect something that was just patently wrong about so many important elements.

I expected better from the History Channel, since, you know, its name has "history" in it, but given that the channel is now dedicated to programming about 2012 apocalypse ideas, truckers, loggers, guys who work in pawn shops and the occasional "historical Jesus" piece, I shouldn't be shocked.

I thought it was pretty cool, but it did have some inacuracies. I think thats due to the writing. I mean it depends on how you interperit things and the narraration. I was hoping for something more objective, but its always the winners who write History. I would like to see a more detailed version; this is the dumb downed, shortened version. I wish they would break it down in sections or seasons. Season 1 Pre-Columbian- Revolution; Season 2 Revolution- "Civil War", Season 3 Reconstruction-WW2, Season 4 Cold War- Present. That would allow for more detail and accuracy. I guess it would be like "The Universe" series. Overall, so far though I like it. I've been waiting for them to return to History, i'm so sick of the reality shows. The graphics cool though.
