"Amazing Spider-man 2" discussion

New rumor: This is why they dropped Shailene Woodley! ;)

(No. Seriously. Please don't let that rumor start. I hate rumors.)

SONY won't be pleased when they hear this!:guffaw:

Maybe that's what Marc meant by divering from canon

:p

-Aside from Webb saying it honors cannon and diverges from it in parts, he also says there are many beautiful, earth-shattering and thrilling moments in the movie that he just wants the audience to experience for themselves and he's confident in what they have

More from the EW issue

-Andrew said the script brought tears to his eyes because it has the perfect balance of Peter's heart and Spidey's jokes and trickster quality and he feels like if the flick fails it will truly be all on him

-Marc Webb is happy to be done with the origin story and is excited to bring something to the audience they've truly never seen before.

-Avi says they changed the costume because honestly, they listened to the fans. The iPad version of the magazine explains all of the changes and says that Peter can change what music he's listening to in costume through his web shooters

-They decided to take MJ out because there was just too much story and they wanted to give it room to breathe

-They do talk about one scene where Peter and Gwen are having a bit of an argument because he has to go do his hero thing and she wants to come with him so after having a witty back and forth, he finally just webs her to a car and goes to handle his business

Easily the best live action costume of Spidey yet.

I'm a bit conflicted on this issue. On one hand the decision turned out perfectly. On the other i'm dissapointed that fans had the final word.
The Spider-man movies in the past have reeked of studio and fan interference since the first movie

Andrew Garfield on Spider-Man's sexuality: 'Why can't he be gay?'

Andrew Garfield has loved Spider-Man since he was a little kid. He can speak eloquently and at length about how open the Spider-verse is for interpretation. Recently, he says, he had a philosophical discussion with producer Matt Tolmach about Mary Jane or “MJ” to fans. “I was kind of joking, but kind of not joking about MJ,” he tells EW. “And I was like, ‘What if MJ is a dude?’ Why can’t we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality? It’s hardly even groundbreaking!…So why can’t he be gay? Why can’t he be into boys?”

Love it.

It's a very small percent where the fans actually are right.

-Avi pressured Raimi into putting venom in because fans loved him

We got a jammed Spider-man 3

-Fans wanted more action in a new Superman movie

We got a movie where it was up to its neck in action that people just got desensitized to it.

"Oh. Superman crashes through another skyscraper. When's this movie over?"

So what's the problem with acknowledging that the fans actually were right in this case?

I'm more a fan of the Raimi films, but I like this Spidey suit better, because it takes the classic look and puts in the one thing that the ASM suit got right...it makes him look skinny. The Raimi suit always looked too artfully sculpted to me.

Did Felicity Jones Just Spill an 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' Spoiler?

Felicity Jones may want to just stop talking for a while. At least, that is probably how Marvel would prefer it.

Jones previously appeared to have tipped off the fact that she is playing the Black Cat in the upcoming "Amazing Spider-Man 2." Now, in an interview with View London, Jones may have tipped off some other characters.

"It's all quite shrouded in secrecy, but I'm the Goblin's girlfriend -- I'm in a relationship with him, and his accomplice. I'm on the dark side," Jones said.

Either the actress is crazy or this movie's plot just got much much more sillier!

He looks a bit like a Borg.

Not really...I'm sure I read something where Harry is going to be the Goblin, in which case she would be Harry's girlfriend.

At the Spider-Man 2 panel at Comic-Con, they actually had Spider-Man himself as one of the guests :

It was really Andrew Garfield under the mask, of course, though he appears to stay in character the whole time.

That was a cool clip, thanks for posting. And yeah, it doesn't seem like he's lying when he says he's been a big fan of the character since he was a kid.

Just read the panel synopsis on AICN, and I gotta say the movie sounds a lot more fun and action packed than the last one. I get the impression they didn't just want the Spidey costume to look more like the Raimi films, but the story and tone as well.

The ASM films are to the Raimi films what the Stones were to the Beatles...they're pretending to do something different while doing pretty much the same thing.

He gave a heart felt speech two years ago at comic con

I didn't really get that impression from the stuff I read. It sounds like they might be going bigger, but it didn't really sound any more like the Raimi movies than the first one was.
