Am I the only one who dislikes the Enterprise-E?

I think the basic shape works, but I think they over detailed it. Plus, I'm not a fan of the interior.

I like the E-E as a starship designed by ASDB (Advanced Starship Design Bureau) as part of the line designed to fight the Borg, as well as serve as an exploratory vessel.

That's the nature of the E-E. It's primary purpose was to be an exploration ship, but it was designed with capabilities to fight the Borg as well, whereas ships like the Akira, Defiant, Jager, Steamrunner, and a couple of other classes were designed by ASDB more toward the purposes of fighting the Borg.

Probably the only thing I don't like about the E-E on-screen is that, compared to the Excelsior and Constitution classes, the E-E looks more like a light up toy. (I do think Nemesis made the E-E look a bit better, except for its introductory shot.)

The Power of Suggestion!!!

As soon as I read your Post, Friend Martok, I immediately flashed on the sight of my Star Trek ornaments on the Christmas Tree, and realized that your description of the "E", above, is spot on!

Even in thing We do not prefer, Star Trek is everywhere! :techman:

The 14 year old me on seeing First Contact for the first time loved it and much preferred it to the D (which I wasn't a fan of).

However, as an adult, I have grown to think of it as over-designed and over-aggressive in appearance as a Starfleet vessel.
That's the first word that comes to mind when I look at the Enterprise-E: "over-designed." Too much styling for the sake of styling. Too many fiddly details. Also, it's too flat -- it looks as if it's been stepped on.

Or, maybe, finally crushed by Anonais's hand in, "Who Mourns For Adonais?"

IMHO, lots to like in "First Contact", but not the design of the E.

Still, it is the Enterprise!

Hmmm..."Main Engineering", "Nacelles", "Saucer Section"...

...can't find a "butt"...

And, before you tell me to "...go look in a mirror!", I am just kidding, Kronos!!! :)

Well, you just need to consider the entire thing as a hole...erm... I mean whole

Ditto this (except I was 23 when FC came out.)

I can't stand the bridge or engineering sets, though that may have been due more to how scenes were filmed. I never really got a sense of just what these rooms were supposed to look like. They were too big with too many things going on.

The exterior took me a while to warm up to. I think it looks great in "First Contact" where it was still a physical model. That whole Borg battle just looks gorgeous. But I think the design is too great a departure from the Ent-D. Though I suppose the same could be said about the transition from Ent-A to the Excelsior-class B.

People really need to stop saying the that Sovereign class was designed to fight the Borg. There is nothing in canon that states this. Nothing. It's purely fandom.

While the Galaxy Class, I think, is gorgeous, I still love the Sovereign.

I'm surprised so many here dislike it [although, collectively this forum hates everything ;)]. The Sovereign is like a modern Excelsior, it is sleek and 'modern' looking. It fits the design ethos of the Intrepid/Akira/Norway/Defiant etc.

Also, I prefer the neckless design of the Sovereign/Intrepid, to me it just makes more structural sense and gives a greater sense of continuity to the overall design.

I like the shape of the E-E all right, but I can't stand the coloration. The high contrast random paneling, especially on the aft end of the saucer, really just make me livid. Color the E-E like the E-D and I think it'd be fine.

I still say the bridge being one level made it seem cramped, even though it was a larger diameter than any bridge before or since. Also, the raised rails on the floor are a major trip hazard.

She does look a little too... stretchy. And I thought the Vengence in "Into Darkness" looked a lot like the E...
