Am I deluding myself?

...or are those the same people who already hate Abrams anyway for having the 'audacity' to make this film.

There's not a lot of anger coming from Shatner fans at this point; I think that's long over and done with. The objections to the film are coming mainly from other quarters on other grounds.

Shatner may not be in the movie, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him involved in the opening promotion in some way; in fact, he seems to be angling for something of the kind.

The Shat's always angling for something, isn't he?

And why not? He does have a lot of fans out there and he is the only EMMY AWARD winning actor to star in a STAR TREK series..

And the one most often parodied for his acting mannerisms...

I love the Shat, and sparing use of him in promoting the movie probably would do no harm; but the message would be mixed or confusing, since Pine IS Kirk now.

Oh they could ham it up in a commercial...Do a morphing affect on shatner and have him turn into pine....Lets put it this way; the only person from TREK my older relatives even are aware of is SHATNER since Nimoy has pretty much vanished in the past twenty years..
