So Channel 5's Digital channel 5* has acquired the rights to Alphas and it will be airing starting later this month.

Alphas sold into UK

A UK broadcaster has secured a deal with NBCUniversal International Television Distribution (NBCU) for Syfy sci-fi drama series Alphas.

Alphas will air on Channel 5's digital sister network 5* later this month after the company secured exclusive first-run free television rights from NBCU.

The series focuses on five people who possess superhuman physical and mental abilities and are brought together to form a team. It is written by Zak Penn (The Avengers, X Men) and Michael Karnow.

Produced by BermanBraun and Universal Cable Productions, the 11-episode first season is currently airing in the US on cablenet Syfy and a second season of 13 episodes has already been ordered.

I've not seen Alphas but heard it's actually fairly good, so I'm going to have to remember to check it out live, because 5* isn't on my DVR.

For anyone who's interested, and there doesn't seem to be many judging by this thread, it starts at 10pm on Tuesday on 5*.

Tuesday night is kind of a hectic night for tv watching in our house, but I think I can swing it. I'll probably record it and take a look on Wednesday:)

I liked the show a lot. What I liked most is that Rosen's team isn't another secret government task force with the highest tech secret base and fancy cars. They're fairly normal people with special skills, boring cars and a bland office. I like it because, while it's similar in premise to Heroes, it's more down to earth and better excecuted. It doesn't match Heroes season 1, but it's vastly superior to Heroes' later seasons.

I have a Freesat PVR which doesn't get 5*, so I'm going to have to remember to tune in for the repeats on freeview.

I enjoyed it enough. I kept thinking it was Heroes-lite throughout, but agree with the person who said it was better than Heroes later years. Which isnt saying much. ;)

I've set Sky to record the series so I'm intrigued enough.
