Alnschloss K'Bentayr picture and Kelvin uniform

I believe it's from the Star Trek magazine.
If I'm not mistaken, it's the best shot we got from him/her/whatever yet. Quite interesting.

This character did look interesting. It's a shame it never had anything to do in the film other than just stand there... not even one little line. Seems like alot of effort for nothing.

Oh! That alien design looks much better in a full-on still picture than the blurry, shaky-cam, so fast I could miss it in a blink shots in the film!

Damn. So, when do they stop wasting our time with these fiddlely JJVerse novel notions and give us the Kelvin novel we so rightly deserve and that millions worldwide are clamoring for?!

[I know. I know. Just work with me, alright? MILLIONS! spread it around...]:techman:

Actually, I'm sure she had a line. It was kinda lost in the panic.

Well, there's me and you - maybe if we run around and shout a lot it'll look like more. :p

I'm not sure how I feel about having all these other aliens serving in Starfleet now. I always thought there was something cool about Spock being the only one in those early years (or at least that's the impression I got anyway).

Now he's just one alien among dozens probably.

Well, Spock clearly couldn't have been the only one since the Intrepid had a fully Vulcan crew.

I think he was the first Vulcan at the Academy, but he was never the only alien.

:wtf: Well, I hope my silent presence can have as big an impact on something someday...

Is that according to TOS or other sources? Because I don't remember any references to other alien officers made during the series. Although I could be wrong...

And yeah I knew about the Intrepid, but I figured Starfleet just loaned Vulcan one of their ships or something, and those Vulcans weren't necessarily Starfleet officers (it doesn't exactly seem like normal practice for Starfleet to staff an entire ship with just one group of aliens).

In any case, the impression I got was that the writers really wanted to emphasize Spock as a unique presence and a bit of an outcast on the ship. Having a bunch of other aliens running around kind of dilutes that I think.

No idea where I got the "Spock first Vulcan, but not first alien" thing - could have made it up completely ;)

Sorry, I'm useless at remembering where I learn stuff, I just have random pieces of information floating around.

Well, I admit it - I watched TNG, DS9, most of Voyager and part of Ent., but I am just now watching TOS in order.

I don't recall seeing any alien characters in the crew....

But, that is one cool looking alien.

Two are added by the time of TAS - when the production didn't have to pay for the makeup!

And then comes the rec deck scene in ST:TMP.

True, but even in TOS they could have afforded to paint someone blue or orange if they really wanted to have another alien running around the ship.

Speaking of TAS, am I the only Trek fan who doesn't care for that goofy looking alien they put on the bridge? I've been reading the Early Voyages paperback too, and they inserted some alien guy onto the Cage bridge who just looks completely out of place.

I don't know, maybe it's because they remind me too much of Jar Jar or something. lol

I liked the random aliens who popped up in the movie, this guy being my favourite. It's mildly interesting in that he looks somewhat like the "grey" who dominated sci-fi and the Weekly World News in the 90s, but never showed up on Star Trek (although the boy in "Future Imperfect" bore some resemblance I suppose).
