While watching Alliances yesterday, I couldn't help but feel that this would have made a very nice two parter.The setup could've been made bigger, more dept towards the reluctance of Janeway against an alliance, maybe a second attack forcing our crew's hand. A scene between Chakotay and Seska perhaps. The first part could end with Neelix showing up with the Trabe armada.
The second episode could set up the idea of an alliance with the Trabe more, perhaps the Voyager crew and the Trabe accomplishing a goal together, showing they can co-operate together well. More scenes involving the Kazon peace discussions, and a bit more between Janeway and the Trabe leader. Nothing romantic, just a good understanding/friendship, making his betrayel bigger and have more personal impact.
Personally, I think it could've worked.
