Wow. Those look damn nice. I hope Red-5 eventually winds up with R2D2, though.![]()
Apparently there is an R2 unit on display as well. I'm going in two weeks! I had no idea this would be there! (There's an amazing museum around these pretend spaceships.)

Immaculately?I never said it actually made any sense. Merely further evidence that it was all quite poorly-conceived.
Without sin? I think you're mixing up Immaculate Conception and Virgin Birth.Immaculately?
Probably. I'm far from an expert.Without sin? I think you're mixing up Immaculate Conception and Virgin Birth.

Every film in the Skywalker Saga was better than its predecessor(s).
No.I am surprised the first movie wasn't about the OG crew having it's adventure. Rey is part of the story. So is Kylo Ren. Movie ends with Han dying. Luke leaving(with R2) and Leia Chewie,Threepio being the few OG heroes that carries over to the second movie.
The second movie has Rey become the lead and then we get introduced to other new characters like Finn and Poe, though I know Poe was not originally suppose to be big part of the movies. Also maybe Kylo goes from the Snoke's right hand man to big baddie when Snoke dies in the first movie.
And as we all now know, the Sequel Trilogy was perfectly capable of stealing time from the characters all on its own.Doing a movie like that would have just wasted a third of the trilogy, and stolen time from the characters who the trilogy was really about.

I'll give you the prequel trilogy, but The Empire Strikes Back is better than The Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens is the best of the prequels. And if we include the Star Wars Story movies, than Rogue One is better than Solo.
No.
The sequel trilogy was not the original trilogy characters' story, and it was never going to be. Doing a movie like that would have just wasted a third of the trilogy, and stolen time from the characters who the trilogy was really about. All three trilogies follow the same pattern, we're introduced one group of characters in one trilogy, then in the next trilogy they're just supporting characters.
I can't speak for anyone else, but that was not at all what I wanted from the sequal trilogy. ROTJ was the perfect ending to Luke , Han and Lea. I would have preferred that they left the memories alone and done that sequal trilogy with new characters. Then they should have opened with a Stand Alone movie featuring the Classic characters with some of the new ones in small parts like Rey and then start the Trilogy after that. What I think people wanted more than anything with a sequel to the old movies is to first find out what happened to the classic characters.
Sure you can. Set the new films far in the future and start your story. TNG was set WAY past TOS. Sure, we got a quick cameo from a very old McCoy, but that was it. This allowed Picard and his crew to start their new journey and it didn't cross out the happy ending we got in TUC. We got a few more TOS characters later, but that was long after TNG had established itself. If the sequal trilogy had never mentioned Luke, Han or Lea, it wouldn't have harmed their happy ending in ROTJ one bit. I would have much preferred that being the end of their adventures than the stupid sh@t we got with the sequals.Any attempt to do sequels means you basically erasing the ,Happy Ending the classic movies and to do that, especially in a time period were they are all still alive is something that can't really be ignored.
Mythology rarely has happy endings if the story continues. That's a modern invention that is not always a reasonable story expectation.Any attempt to do sequels means you basically erasing the ,Happy Ending the classic movies and to do that, especially in a time period were they are all still alive is something that can't really be ignored.
I'm okay with it. I feel the Sequel Trilogy did enough with what it revealed of Ben Solo's backstory that the rifts between the "big three" were believable and ultimately irreconcilable.Yeah, they definitely needed to give Luke, Han and Leia their final moment together.

There's a meme I see get posted on social media about once a month that shows the Next Generation crew reunited on the Enterprise-D bridge in Picard's third season, contrasted with an AI deepfake of the Original Trilogy characters reunited in the Falcon's cockpit, with a caption, roughly, "Star Trek gave its fans what Star Wars fans wanted."
I know fiction is not life, but people drift apart over time. People can have really intense relationships with a group of friends in their twenties and then lose touch. People don't get closure with their old friends.
As stupid as I think the third act of Force Awakens is, there's something quite tragic and compelling in Han being part of a quest to find Luke and then falling before the quest is complete. Myths are built on that.
I'm not defending the Sequel Trilogy. I think it was misconceived and poorly executed. But I do think the OT's Core Three not reuniting is defensible.
Aside from the nostalgia of the moment providing some warm fuzzies inside, I'm not really sure what a reunion of the Big Three in the Sequel could have accomplished. Those movies already had enough pandering to the OT for the sake of nostalgia as it is.
