Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

We got most of that anyway without a reunion. Again, besides memberberries and nostalgia, what does a reunion really offer?

But we never saw them together. They were all in the movies but also not allowed to be together. What we get from seeing them is it's a means of both nostalgia and nostalgia for something people hadn't seen in decades which is a new Star Wars movie. While also a passing of the torch to new characters.

But that's pointless, unnecessary, and a distraction from the new characters, who are the focus of the sequel trilogy.
Then they should have opened with a Stand Alone movie featuring the Classic characters with some of the new ones in small parts like Rey and then start the Trilogy after that. What I think people wanted more than anything with a sequel to the old movies is to first find out what happened to the classic characters.
No they should not have, it would have been completely unnecessary, they already got their story in the OT.
Any attempt to do sequels means you basically erasing the ,Happy Ending the classic movies and to do that, especially in a time period were they are all still alive is something that can't really be ignored.
Well in that case, then they should have just left all of the preexisting characters out of the sequels, because anything you do with them was going to undo that happy ending.
Mostly a chance to just see what they are now doing in old age. What roles they played in making the universe better after the fall of The Empire. Also see how they have changed. Luke is now a Jedi with years of experience. Han has responsibilities and no longer a smuggler. Also a dad. Leia is a General and even can use the Force. Chewie is captain or his own ship. The Droids are still the droids.

Also at least one of them should die. I actually had no problem with killing Han and Leia of course had to die for real world reasons.
But we already got all of that in the movies that we did get, so I don't see what the problem is.
I liked the way they set things up, with each of the movies focusing on one of the OT characters, The Force Awakens was Han's movie, The Last Jedi was Luke's, and The Rise of Skywalker's was going to be Leia's but they ended up having to cut back on some of that after Carrie Fisher died.

It means that I am entitled to enjoy a 10 year old film and have read all of TrekBBS opinions on why some believe I am incorrect in my opinion. I’m not interested in relitigating a 10 year old argument. We can agree to disagree.

It's not 10! Rouge One isn't even 10! (Yet!) STOP PUSHING!

The Force Awakens shows Chewie and Leia basically ignoring each other after Han dies, so I'm not surprised there was no real drive to show the main three together.

But that's pointless, unnecessary, and a distraction from the new characters, who are the focus of the sequel trilogy.
Maybe they should have left out all the old characters completely. Really hone that focus.

Here's another thought: The three of them barely share anytime together as a trio in The Empire Strikes Back and not even that much time in Return of the Jedi. The most time they spent together in the whole trilogy is during the escape from the Death Star in A New Hope.
Seeing as the Sequel Trilogy came about decades after the OT it's not about quantity screentime, just that it might have been nice to see them together again after so long. With the writing of the SeqTril though, it might not have been nice, but now we'll never know. ;)

HAPPY STAR WARS DAY!

I have had a terrific three weeks of Star Wars and I hope you all have as well.

Now we will divide our time between celebrating Star Trek's 60th and gearing up for Star Wars' 50th!

(And maybe check out what life insurance options we have, see that all of our after-life planning is in place for our survivors...)

(It's also Towel Day and Geek Pride Day. For some reason.)

And I’ll be celebrating watching The Mandalorian and Grogu. Not sure how I feel about it but good way to celebrate Star Wars. In the movie theater!

And you call yourself a fan? Going to a hall of corporate greed and exposing yourself to Filoni Filth and Disney Dung on this holiest of days? The proper manner of celebration is to spend the day in seclusion reading one of the old EU novels. A True Fan would know that!

;)

I didn’t say what I was doing after the movie and after posting my detailed examination of everything the movie did wrong and how it’s woke as fuck. :p

Should celebrate in the way a Jedi would, by indoctrinating young children into the cult!

Mmm… come sit on Uncle Yoda’s lap you will.*

*For clarification, this is a joke and not pointed at anyone here!

The logline interests me if just for the idea that it could see as a jumping off point for a new saga.

I fully anticipate seeing a Rey cameo.

I’m sure I’ll see it when it comes to Disney+. I’m just past going to theaters for things that I’m not 100% interested in.
